I guess the earlier report was wrong? If this is accurate then it’s even more of a steal.

That’s an amazing deal. Man I would love to sign Myles Jack to that deal.

 

This is the biggest part of why he had no leverage...he might want Wagner/Mosley money, but the Cowboys had him for 2 years cheap, and he's an injury or an arthritis diagnosis away from never getting that big pay day.

Its also why the Melvin Gordon deal should have been done already. Guarantee him two franchise tag years worth of signing bonus/salary, make the 4th year some silly number (like $15mil or $17mil) so he can claim a higher AAV, and call it a day. A 3yr/$40mil extension (so the deal becomes 4/45...but is really 3/30 or so) with ~$20mil guaranteed...gives Gordon 3 years where he probably makes $30mil before getting cut. Versus playing this year at $5mil and risking injury.

he is one of the better returners in the league as well

he makes big plays when he gets the opportunity. For whatever reason, he didn't get many under Gase. I think he could be a nice jigsaw puzzle for this offense.

the money doesn't even matter considering the amount of cap space we have starting next year. Its just nice to see players get locked up before they hit free agency with Xavien Howard and now Grant. Hopefully Tunsil is next.

I like Grant but that’s a good amount of coin for a guy who returns kicks and catches and average of like 11 balls a year.

Hopefully he gets more opportunity because that deal has the potential to be a real steal....

Kind of. It’s some sort of lower leg injury that was misdiagnosed as a calf strain and has now spread to the upper ankle

It’s 8/21 and he’s still not practicing, so I’m expecting he doesn’t play week 1 and would guess late September is a reasonable time to expect him back by. They’ll officially make a call on week 1 availability next week
