I hate to agree with Louis Riddick’s “old man yells at clouds” take, but the sentiment is right. It’s not nothing I guess, but it’s not much of anything. Meh

Well I think it's more of the Giants being incompetent as an organization.

A few of the throws jones made were in a super crowded pocket with like 3 defensive lineman ready to eat him, that ol can't suddenly be thatttt much better. It makes the throws more impressive but the pocket awareness has to improve, that won't work against starting defenses. He's going to get sacked, he's going to have to throw more on the run against players twice as fast as the ones he's used to seeing. If he does start, I assume thatll happen when Tate and Sheppard are back and it'll take him at least a few weeks to adjust so he might have some ugly games first. Darnold was so much better in the second half of last year, I think all the rookie qbs were.

You trade OBJ than draft Daniel Jones doesn't make sense imo. Jones, OBJ, Barkley and Sheppard would have been really nice.

I still can’t quite get behind Darnold yet. And I think it’s only because he’s a Jet/ex-USC QB which is completely stupid and yet... compelling.

At least if they went that route they could have thrown more of it's resources into the O line.

Any time you can trade a top 10 receiver, get a major cap hit for doing so, for a nose tackle, to replace the good one you traded for a 5th round pick and then overpay a lot to get an aging veteran receiver

    You gotta do it

The Giants having another WR named Shepard confused the shit out of me haha. But I do think that's how OLs typically work especially after big acquisitions. Adding Zeitler takes a lot of pressure off the right side of the line and adding Solder and Hernandez already took a lot of pressure off the left side. Now I don't think it's necessarily FIXED per se, but it's hard to have a great OL in the first place and that's probably as close as it gets without nailing 3 first round OL prospects in 4 drafts like the Cowboys. I do think those changes happen suddenly, just like an OL falling apart can happen fairly suddenly.

He probably will have to adjust to his new WRs so that's true, we'll see how that goes.

@CarpetElf touched on the fact that he was making a lot of one read passes which is definitely an aspect he can improve on, but the accuracy and placement of those throws helps to believe that when he is getting bum rushed he can still get plays off. That was also without Saquon drawing attention which could play a major part too (Gallman sucked ass).

It's definitely too early to "crown" Jones per se, that's for sure. But it's also been way too early to write him off and people have been doing that for a good amount of time so fuck it.

But I'm excited at the possibility of stacked QB play in the NFC East.

It’s also too early to write off Josh Allen!!

Yes I am talking about the QB!!

If Daniel Jones gets that benefit than should Josh Allen imo.

    True!

There weren't many things I liked about Allen's QB play BUT there's always room to develop and grow

It makes the season feel it means so much more when every team is competitive. And it fuels online arguments, which is always a plus.

I care more about winning than anything else but the games are definitely more fun when they are neck and neck instead of tied going into the 3rd and then one of the teams scores like 20 straight.

Daniel Jones has great pocket awareness actually. That’s his best trait and it’s why he was the right fit for NYG

Idk how you can see the line collapse within 1-2 seconds and see Daniel Jones throw completions with ideal anticipation / timing, and be like “Jones needs to work on that”

No, that OL needs to work on that.

Also as far as him “only playing second stringers”... bruh he IS a second stringer right now lol what do you expect

Like. No one is “crowning” Jones, Jones doesn’t get *enough* credit for his skillset.

If you stand in the pocket as it's collapsing, thinking you can throw out of it

    That's bad pocket awareness

Not at all. Knowing you don’t have an escape route and getting rid of the ball quickly is actually better pocket awareness than QB who always try to scramble and get themselves into worse sacks.

When more than one defender has an angle on you, unless you have elite elusiveness like Russell Wilson... the correct thing to do is throw with anticipation so you can get the ball out quick. Throwing early is basically always better than holding the ball too long under pressure, as long as you make proper reads and throw to the “holes” in the coverage.

DJ CONSISTENTLY does that in his college tape. To me that’s where David Cutcliffe’s tutelage helped him out the most.

Wisdom is sometimes knowing you don’t have a choice.
