@Randall Mentzos Joe Giles-Harris. I like him a lot and was very surprised nobody drafted him. Not super athletic but he has great awareness and run stopping ability, especially for an UDFA.

 

There were some bad calls that helped us last year but I just read that the Cowboys had the least penalties called against their opponents of anyone in the league last year. Sucks.

Yeah, that's definitely part of it, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly incompetent refs.

Not gonna lie though, being at the bottom of rankings like that over and over and over again each year... makes your conspiracy brain start firing on all cylinders. I can't help it.

 

I think that's what makes it fire less for me. Like...I can't see a way the Cowboys would be treated any differently than the Patriots if it's about ratings/favoritism/etc. The Cowboys being at the bottom of the rankings PLUS the Cowboys still having Garrett as HC and their typical internal staff makes me think it's more on them than officiating.

 

Sure, but FWIW the same tweet that I saw that spurred my initial comment was saying the Patriots were 31st while we were 32nd in penalties called against opponents.

To be honest, I did some googling and that guy must be excluding denied calls or some sites are or something because I don't see the exact same results he did but just averaging the last five years together, we're 10th in least calls against our opponents overall.

Obligatory: good teams overcome good/bad calls, don't leave games up to the refs, could/shoulda/woulda, etc...

 

That's really interesting that the Pats were 31st haha, I wouldn't have expected that given the eye test

 

I know I am guilty of this and I'm sure pretty much every fan of a sports team in general is that our eye tests are super biased, haha

Sometimes we just see what we want to see, myself included.

It's weird how irrational sports fandom really is if you look at it from a different angle.

 

I still have nightmares of the "pass interference" in the endzone vs the saints on 4th down.

Saints guy tried to tell me it didn't significantly effect the outcome of the game.

 

Was that the Jesse James touchdown thing? I'm having trouble recalling what happened.

 

No on 4th and whatever, Brees launched it to the endzone and Haden was called for PI on Kamara that everyone with eyes agreed was a bad call. Saints scored a play or two later.

Apparently pass interference is lightly grazing someone's back with your fingertips.

 

Also, apparently Disney is interested in attaining Sunday Ticket, which would be awesome.
