I've never understood the allure of pickup trucks. I've never had an ongoing need to haul my stuff around with me.

If you don't need them for work or have a boat or constantly hauling junk around, I don't get it either.

    The rivalry is back on

Now that I own a house and it’d be convenient to have a truck once about every 3 months, I get the allure

I find most pickup truck drivers to be aggressive and obnoxious on the road, so I am biased against them

it goes against all things democracy or whatever but i always kind of felt like you shouldn't be able to buy a large gas-guzzling fucker unless you meet certain criteria.

the number of people i've met or know that drive a large vehicle and for no reason whatsoever always kind of puzzled me from the cost / gas perspective. example: i got new brakes this weekend - $150. my brother in law has a large truck (needs to for work and his family) his brakes cost like $500 or more.

but no one ever thinks of that when they see a giant shiny lump of metal so *shrug*

edit edit: a close friend bought some giant Jeep SUV thing. she lives alone. works at a salon. goes on vacation out of the country constantly. has like 3 friends who all live far away.

...so why is something that costs $75 for a tank of gas alluring for her?

I have had a Silverado for two years and I can't wait to be done with the lease. I did a ton of home improvement in 2016 and 2017 and well, let's just say it was a lot easier getting lumber and stuff when I wasn't driving a Grand Prix. But once my daughter was born last May, the combination of her never sleeping and the added cost of the second kid has really slowed my fix it up pace and the truck is more if a burden.

Edit for a post thought: It also really sucks having my 4 year old constantly booting me in the back because he sits behind me

Glad to hear it's benign, but it's still unfortunate. At least it doesn't sound like a full craniotomy and it doesn't seem like they'll have to do radiation/chemo to solve it. Poor girl though. It's never fun to think about the complications that could come from brain surgery.

My father-in-law had complications from brain surgery, and he'll never be the same again. It's no joke.
    I hope she's ok.

Yeah. My tumor was starting to press into the speech and motor section. Luckily, I didn't have any complications, but I got a nice C-shaped scar (not fully noticeable, but it obviously stands for Cleveland) and a much more dangerous look from the little flaps they put in to hold everything in place again.
