If it’s moved into the challenge territory, it’s not gonna be every play or anything.

They should take a look at that so called no clear recovery rule.

A lot more end of the half Hail Marys too. A lot less kneel downs and a lot more Hail Marys to try and get defensive PI to then kick a FG

the real issue is that PI should not be a spot foul

    Oh no, I get that.

I just mean that like literally every passing play could be reviewed by a team. I would imagine each team will soon enough have a “review coordinator” to watch each pass play so that before the next snap that they make the determination to do something about it.

I can’t imagine we’ll see a challenge on the first couple drives of a game, but if a team is in the red zone or throws to the red zone and sees something egregious then we might see Gruden or someone challenge

College has it right. And I’m baffled the pros never changed it.

I actually like that they opened this up...but there's gonna be a half dozen games this year that end in an absolute shit show of reviews taking all the drama away.

It’s technically a spot but maxes out at 15 yards.

If it were changed to that and there were no more challenges, couldn’t you just maul a player and take the 15 yards though? I’m imagining a scenario where it’s clealry going to be a score unless you purposefully interfere.

You would think, but that really doesn’t come up in college too often (which is kind of surprising now that I think about it)

I wonder how much of that is because the system works or because they design plays or don’t throw past 15 yards nearly as often.

I don’t watch college football, so I literally have no idea, haha. Just seems something that would be taken advantage of all the time. I do it all the time if I was a DB and I knew someone was gonna get 15+ yards against me.

college is a higher volume passing game. plus a lot of schemes are built as pure aerial attacks. Like Washington State and most of the Big 12.

Is there a reason you see why they don’t interfere in every 15+ yard pass then? I genuinely don’t know why they wouldn’t. Is there a cap for how many penalties you can get before being tossed out or something? Haha

You could say defenses would exploit this, but I think you could argue that offenses in the NFL exploit the rule as it is. I’m not sure how I’d feel about a rule change, overall. I’m a very very casual college football fan though
