the point is they were never going to pay him that so not sure why he bothered visiting

If I’m reading Over the Cap right, $16mil would be the same as Andy Dalton, and the lowest salary for a starting QB not on a rookie deal.

I mean, thats a perfectly fair stance to have. Miami is a garbage team. Id want financial assurance if Im gonna go there and go 5-11 at best. If Im not getting two years guaranteed to start, I'd stay on a good team with the chance to step in.
It is, although he hasnt played in years, so, asking for like 3yr/$50mil/$30mil guaranteed is ballsy. But, if I knew I had a guaranteed $7mil that could become like $12mil if I start, its what Id demand from anyone who isnt a contender.

That said, Miami made the right move not giving him that. Cut Tannehill, save the cap space, start whatever dumpster fire option is left, and get your 2020 and on QB either in this draft or next years.

Are there any big players still out there you think this could be for?

    Darby returning?

They could be working on getting Darby back, they could be looking as possible trades for a RB.

I thought I read last night Darby failed his physical? If he did, wouldn't he fail it in Philly, too? Or am I misunderstanding something?

From what I understand he hasn't.

I still think the Eagles are going to land Jordan Howard.

Yeah, I could see that. I'm surprised he's even still available.

I'm just not sure what it would cost

I'd guess around $8-$10 million a year or so, but I could be way off

so if the Dolphins paid Bridgewater the $16+ million he wanted, they would have lost their 3rd round comp pick from Jawuan JAmes

so basically a 3rd round pick + a big contract for a guy that hasn't played in 3 years and might not even be on the team past 2019

    glad they passed

Maybe I'm stupid, but why do people freak out over comp picks ? I feel like draft picks are a bit overvalued.

    its the complete opposite

    many teams undervalue them

Look at who are always the team leaders in comp picks. Its usually all good teams. Theres a reason for that.

I'll admit, I don't really have a full understanding how they work but it feels like we have like 1-3 comp picks every year.

Really ? I didn't know that, I'm not sure how the whole process works. Would you say that's one of the reasons that certain teams have had sustainable success ?

Making comp picks tradeable completely changed the value too. The Patriots are good at what they do because they don't overpay in free agency, take their comp pick and move on with their lives. They draft well, especially in the 3rd to 5th round and are very active in the undrafted market. I can't remember the last time they were bogged down with just like...a putrid contract like the bad teams can't get enough of.
