I don't mind those seasons and think they're at least watchable, but the first three seasons are like GOAT level to me so I still have to include it in a convo like this.

Brooklyn, Parks, and Good Place balanced themselves with good drama, political and social commentary.

And I just for the life of me don't know why I'm supposed to care about anyone in the Office outside of Pam, who everyone seems to hate for some stupid reason, and Jim.

  3. Speaking of parks, Amy poehlers book yes please is very good. I also have retta's book that I'll have to get to soon.

this is one of the biggest things that separates The Office from Parks for me and makes it hard to say one is better than the other (since people constantly compare the two).

The Office was so "small scale" and, rightfully so, focused on the characters in The Office. meanwhile P&R did the super correct thing and brought together all these fucking wackos to really build out Pawnee and Eagleton that really made that world come alive.

my favorite of the two can change based on my mood and what i feel like getting involved in (smaller, standalone stories = The Office vs larger over-arcing plot with goofier ensemble cast = P&R)

It's pretty crazy that Brooklyn Nine Nine are on their sixth season and as far as I'm concerned, they hit the ground running with the pilot and never experienced a drought or drop off in any way. It's remained at a very high quality the whole run.

what i love about P&R is how upbeat, positive and good-spirited everyone is to each other (aside Larry/Jerry/Gary). i don't remember a show before P&R that built such good caring characters before.

The Good Place has done a fantastic job of carrying that torch, which is a big reason (of many) that i love that show.

most shows just have characters shitting on each other most of the time, whereas The Good Place and P&R can and do poke fun, but do so in a very endearing way.

The finale of Parks and Rec is so good and wholesome.

The finale of the Office is....like if Seinfeld ended with Jerry marrying Elaine

I also think The Office was actually incredibly consistent. Never noticed a drop off tbh

    Nope. Supporter

I think part of the point is to make Michael just be this outlandish character lol

Oh yeah its definitely the point. But like, if Bortles came out and said the point was to play bad that doesnt make him good just because he acknowledges it.

Who would have guessed a thread of NFL fans would have bad opinions on movies and TV

I’m at an intersection but I plan on refuting all of these AWFUL opinions of Michael and whatnot later...

Every season had the same highs and the same lows. People hate on the last two but that had more character development than the previous seven.

The Office should never have been a show where it expected us to care that Michael was getting engaged and had kids
