Rodgers will be a top five corner when the packers wiff on cornerbacks in FA and the draft.

Because you seem to think he'll just bow out of the top 5 discussion just because the Seahawks weren't as dominant lately lol thats super unrealistic. If he'd rather leave Seattle than take a paycut to stay on his competitive home team, what makes you think he'd do that somewhere else?

Players can have a down year or two and bounce back. Look at Calais Campbell, who got an elite contract despite his stats waning on an overall aging Cardinals defense, and then had his best season after that. I'm not sure I'm ready to dismiss him as "oh he's old and not as good anymore", yeah I have him at 6 now based on 2017 & 2016, I don't blink if a team pays him top 5 money thinking he can still lock down one side of the field. And I do not want JAX to try to compete with those numbers when they already pay Bouye 12.

I say hell yeah if SF spends some of their extensive cap room to give Sherman that 12-13 AAV that he and several other teams still believe he deserves.

I think the compensation does matter because now we have another high pick to use on an impact player. Shelton was likely to get less snaps this year based on where the trend was last year. It’s a good football trade for both sides. Shelton fits what NE wants to do and they get a pick. We get a high pick and compensation for someone who wasn’t going to play a ton of snaps and was not going to be retained next year. It’s creating opportunity for other guys to play more. It makes sense to me. Remove the first round selection and look at it from his production level and the projection for him on the browns moving forward. Getting a third rounder is a good value. It’s way better than the low round compensation we were likely to get or letting him walk in free agency.

Agree to disagree. I just think because he didn't do well dropping into coverage (which was silly anyway) in Williams' defense played into his reduced amount of snaps last season; apparently Dorsey didn't really see past that. He will flourish in NE. I just hope the younger guys like Brantley can step up.

Fair enough. I do think with the salary cap moves they made yesterday and who they have to re-sign, you do have to be honest about other players. If you don’t envision them in your financial plans, let alone on the field, getting compensation via trade makes sense.

That’s the hope. We haven’t had season-ending pectoral injury in a while. Hopefully he’s not the next.

Really an unexpected move. At first, I wasn't a huge fan because I loved Danny, but I can see why. He'll be a restricted FA after this year and they have a solid little rotation of Ogunjobi/Coley/Brantley. They'll add someone else, but we'll see if that's through the draft or FA.

Curious how the Beckham videos play out. Bad timing for him. Not that there is a good time.

    fuckin yep

Go 49ers. @CarpetElf we'll be GO JAGS at 1pm and bitter rivals at 4:15 pm.

But that basically is what already happened last time we watched games together (2015) because you'd spend the whole time calling out the worst ways we could fuck up and one of them would end up being right and I'd be salty about it

Sherman > Talib. That's the last guy I was forgetting in my top 10 though for sure. Let's put him between Patrick Peterson & Desmond Trufant.

Watch the 49ers trade down for Guice and Chark and then you switch sides again lol :-p

So that makes my top 10 corners:

    1) Jalen Ramsey
    2) Marcus Peters
    3) Xavier Rhodes
    4) A.J. Bouye
    5) Casey Hayward
    6) Richard Sherman
    7) Patrick Peterson
    8) Aqib Talib
    9) Desmond Trufant
    10) Jason Verrett

Honorable mention but I've seen all these dudes get BURNED more than once recently: Darius Slay, Kyle Fuller, Jimmy Smith, Damarious Randall, Marshon Lattimore

That's my main thing. Their team blew up and they're about to draft / trade themselves right back into success. And beat the previous "top dog" in their division with their own most iconic player. I just love most of the 49ers' decision making.

Foster has not been a good call though. Abuse should never be tolerated and any forgiveness for past events should be zero-strikes when it comes to future behavior. He should not be in the league (forgive me if he was cut and i just missed the headline.)
