Not at all a fan of that trade, John. I will miss Shelton. He progressed a lot over the past two seasons.

Actually a pretty good deal for the Browns still. They'll get another top 100 pick, and this might be for pick 159 instead of 138. And the Browns have Larry Ogunjobi

Patriots acquired DT Danny Shelton and a 2018 fifth-round pick from the Browns in exchange for the Patriots' third-round pick in 2019.

Okay??? So he asks for somewhat less and we say no? Seems simple enough. But if he wants to play for a contender on a fair deal I don't see why you wouldn't at least ask.

The stats don't back that up. The misleading stats that Sherman posted backs it up but what do I care about a list of players that includes Darrelle Revis? Sherman has not been as good the last two years, he's not a top five corner anymore.

There are three great QBs in this draft. There are two picks in between you. Barkley has to be the first pick.

True. The Browns have a deep DL, but I'm not sure I fully believe in the ability of Caleb Brantley just yet. He's too inconsistent. In the grand scheme of things, the Patriots clearly won this trade. Their DL just got markedly better.

Fair point, but the Browns have already passed on so many winners recently. I just can't see John Dorsey making the same mistake in his very first draft as Browns GM. He has to go with a QB. He can't pull another Sashi Brown passing on Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson move.

Also, it's a draft with a very deep RB class. They can survive without Barkley. Let the Giants have him.

Wentz was taken first? Watson was taken first? No no, you are psyching yourself out haha. You guys have passed up so many can't miss players. And you'll be doing it again if you pass on Barkley. The class is deep but you could miss out on a starter by waiting until the second round. You will for certain get a franchise-potential QB at 4. People want Rosen, Darnold, and Allen (lol) more than Mayfield anyway.

I don't trust the Jets not to trade up and go for Mayfield before #4. Plus, if Mayfield is the Browns' guy, and they feel he can fit Todd Haley's offense the best, then you have to go for him. If they pass on him and he tears up the NFL, Dorsey knows he'll never hear the end of it.

But I certainly get where you're coming from. Barkley will very likely be a Zeke-like (or better) player for whatever team drafts him.

What happened to the team that drafted Zeke? Or Fournette? They went to the playoffs despite average QB play. The Browns have Tyrod Taylor, who was just in the playoffs. I'm just saying you are guaranteed a great QB prospect but only have Barkley on the table at pick one.

This of course means nothing because they'll draft Josh Allen.

Agreed with the prospect sentiment, but I'm a bit jaded by the past decade or so of draft picks. I just want our QB.

If they draft Allen I will likely quit watching football altogether. I'd rather take Lamar Jackson.

You've got Tyrod Taylor as your bridge. Take Barkley, trade down with Miami, rack up some more picks, and take Lamar. I'm all for it. Lamar's biggest flaw is the one thing Tyrod does right.

Not sure why you think the latter scenario is realistic

I am not talking about a twitter post. Its not like hes had two bad years. He may no longer be on top but he has a very strong resume, was getting top 5 CB money and this injury is really his first and only setback in his career. Sherman isnt gonna take any team friendly deals, he knows he can get paid and knows he'll be a major improvement to essentially any of the teams who can afford to inflate his value.

If this was 2016 Jags when we thought Amukamara and House could stop anybody, id be all for cutting one of them and signing Sherm.

I don't know what you are saying or why. My point is he isn't a top five corner lol. Stop with the tangents haha

I am okay with the Shelton trade. From what I remember he was mostly a two down lineman. I don’t think he really fit with what Williams wanted to do. If you aren’t extending or picking up his option you may as well recoup a third rounder that you can use on a player that does fit.

True, but also no guarantee Gregg Williams will be on the CLE staff past next season. Shelton still had some value as a competent run stopper. The compensation doesn't really match.

I'm saying you certainly can make the argument hes top 5 and he will make that argument and teams will buy it. Its what he was already getting paid and he didnt decline that much. A year or two when the whole Seahawks defense declined isn't enough to sway every CB needy team.

You can't make the argument. He isn't top five haha. Not one part of his play last year was top five. He wasn't even the best corner on his team for a lot of last year.

This is a brand new deal. His old deal means nothing. He can make the argument and teams can overpay him if he wants but that again, does not mean he is top five. You literally said you'd put him at six WHY are you still arguing lol
