Because of the talent we have at the position, not because he's a giant project. That's also not the same as if we were to draft a project QB and not resign Bortles. That absolutely sets the team back a lot further than a project DT.

 

that's not even an argument guys haha we are talking about whether it was smart to keep or replace our QB.

We didn't "replace" a DT with Bryan.

 

To be fair, Bryan is ready to play now. He's just not going to because of the roster. Lamar Jackson by year two should be a better QB than Bortles is now

 

You could have drafted a very good project QB AND resigned Bortles though

Absolutely not haha that's overprojecting. I like Jackson long term but he's very raw.

 

Lamar Jackson could beat out flacco

 

I like the idea of Lamar Jackson sitting a year, but also think he’d do well starting, especially in a cushy offense like Jacksonville’s where the o-line is very good and he wouldn’t have to throw every down

 

He's raw because he's a rookie. Bortles is raw because he is not good.

 

He would thrive.

 

I do think keeping Bortles is a good call

And I do think not investing in the position further is a bad call

Fair warning if anyone tries to justify Cody Kessler as the future I'm blocking you

 

O line should hopefully be very good this year. It wasn't "very good" last year. Norwell at LG is a BIG change and I do think Richardson can beat out Parnell by season's end.

Bortles is no longer "raw".

 

Keeping Bortles was a very good call. Moving forward with him as "the guy" is not. I agree with Dustin and am already dreading Randall convincing himself Kessler is legit.

You negatively exaggerate everything Jags. He's better than some QBs you really like.

Thinking Mariota is better, thinking he's just as raw as Lamar jackson, those are just wrong statements. I already said Bortles isn't great but I've also said he's reached a spot where he's not easy to replace either.

 

Oh no, I like Mariota more. I don't think he's better. I think he SHOULD be though.
