Jacksonville's political district was gerrymandered to include all of Duval county in the 80s, which has silenced the inner city POC vote and also helped restrict Jax from healthy growth / empowered the Baptist Church's filter on nightlife. This is the guiding force behind Jacksonville being a whitewashed cultureless city whose POC neighborhoods don't even have working septic tanks while they continue to add luxury, shopping malls and traffic to the beaches and countryside. Yelling the name of the county at sports games as a means of localized pride is actually something I hugely politically disagree with and yet I still do it haha

 

Its a city in the deep South what do you expect haha

The team does very little to get fans to say DUUUVAL haha people here just do it

 

Well, I've seen white people from northern Florida saying it Willy Nilly and now that I know there's a history behind it it's pretty damn distasteful

I’m sure majority of the people yelling that at or during games have no ill intentions. That’s the same thing as saying people that chant “USA” at national games are being distasteful.
