The one game I remember the being the most shocked the Giants won was against the packers in Green Bay. I thought the packers would crush them. I feel like Green Bay would've easily beaten that niners team and been in the super bowl, probably beaten the pats

 

So much of football is being able to execute on good fortune that I think the logic of rerolling and seeing if the results are the same just isn't possible.

The 07 Giants had lots of lucky breaks in their Super Bowl, so did the 14 Patriots, and the 08 Steelers, and so many others. The only recent team I can think of that didn't have a ton of lucky breaks in their Super Bowl is the 13 Seahawks, and even then you've got the NFC Championship right before where they did. But each team took advantage of theirs, and that's what it takes to win in this league.

Oh and being a better team for a good amount of time.

 

I don't care what anyone says you need luck along the way. Every team has had some type of lucky break during a SB run.

 

The Eagles had some this past season, Torry Smith catching the deflection against Atlanta.

 

There may be an alternate reality where Brady takes the sack in the Super Bowl, or gets out of the pocket and throws the ball away, or even completes a pass to someone somehow

 

That's what I'm saying or Bill figures out the Philly Special. It's just how things break.

The nature of the NFL, and I guess football in general, makes it hard for the “best” team to win every year. Or even most years. It’s not like basketball.

 

Remember when we needed every fucking team just about to lose so we could get into the playoffs with a fucking tie ? Only for us to go down to Arizona in the NFC title game

For sure. In 07-08, its undeniable the Pats were the best team. Set damn near every NFL record, went 18-0 heading into the SB. Split their games with the Giants 1-1 with 3pt differences in each.

They just happened to have a kryptonite that NYG was perfectly set up to exploit, and that Eli has a cicada-like clutch gene that reemerges once a decade or something.

Seriously. Wentz was a Josh Allen of that draft. Some had him sliding to the teens and no one really fully committed to him being a can't miss prospect due to his college competition.

 

I remember in the earliest mocks they had Wentz as a 2nd round player, then later on as the Texans pick and I was ecstatic. Then all of a sudden the world caught on and he was in the top 5 hahaha.
