Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

The Colts talent pool was on par with the 0-16 Lions.

I mean shit, look how much Newton has suffered due to lack of WR's. I mean it hasn't showed in the teams record but it did on the field during games.

I mean...the Packers comparison is valid but Luck’s rosters when healthy are very comparable to the Packers rosters that had quick playoff exits too.

I don’t wanna say he’s elite or that he isn’t, just that I have reason to be afraid when he’s playing.

  4. Luck is awesome. I’d take him over Newton.

Even when Luck was healthy his rosters were not good. He carried that team to the AFC title game.

Luck, when healthy, could absolutely be a top five QB. But that's a big if at this point. Shit, do we even know if he's still alive?

I’d take a healthy Luck over Big Ben at this point.

The Colts allowed Jonas Gray to look like Barry Sanders. That team was abysmal.

If Luck was healthy and could stay healthy, there's very few QBs I would take over him

Frees up 17 and 18 mil I believe in the following years so they can pay Odell and Collins. Giants are moving to a 3-4 and JPP is past his prime now.

Rodgers had Jordy and Cobb, Luck had Wayne and Hilton. They both had to carry awful defenses. Both never had a consistent running game, Packers had a better o-line though. Packers had a couple above average defensive backs, Colts had a shutdown corner. I’d have to think about it more but they weren’t THAT vastly different.

    The rivalry is back on

I’m fine with the notion that Andrew Luck is overrated. He hasn’t thrown an NFL pass in over a year, and I don’t have any confidence in saying he’ll be the same when he comes back.

If you’re looking statistically when healthy, I don’t think that holds up though.

Exactly ! when healthy he's honestly a once in a lifetime talent. When the Colts let Manning go I envied them because you go from having an all time great to getting a potential all time great.

Well the Colts O line was the key thing. How often did we see Luck on his back ? Pretty often.

ONE MORE THING (since the OLines were brought up)

Tannehill has been sacked 213 times in 77 games
Luck has been sacked 156 times in 70 games

    ;-)

Is taking Chubb at #2 a reach if you couldn't agree with anyone to trade down? Passing on Barkley or QB could be costly but Giants have always been built on a great pass rush.

I mean, Luck was very clearly better with dealing with pressure with how often he scrambled and still managed to make something happen

Are you implying that sack numbers are purely reflective of the entire offensive line? Because sacks can absolutely be on the QB as well and Luck knows when to throw it away and he can make tighter throws. He has far better pocket presence an decision making than Tannehill.

I think that's more coaching than o-line play because while the Packers o-line appeared to be tremendously better they're also very well coached on how to intelligently hold. Whereas not only was the Colts o-line not coached well, the Colts were calling Four Verticals every play with that one OC who I forget the name of (help me out @whitenblue88), which is TERRIBLE to do with a bad o-line. On most of Rodgers's long yardage plays he didn't have the luxury of being a statue in the pocket either.

Packers coaching staff hasn't been stellar but they were leaps and bounds ahead of those Colts coaches. I think that's the biggest difference.

I mean in the end that's the best compliment anyone can give Luck, he can take a team kicking and screaming to the playoffs just like Rodgers.

Will he though? I have no clue. I think the AFC South is a toss-up.

Hence why it drives me crazy when Luck gets the pure blame for the Colts early playoff exits.
