Random Question, but who in this thread is in a band? I know @Randall Mentzos is. Any others? I need advice with something.

lol so my brother's band is in the studio right now, so they're probably going to be releasing two new songs after Christmas.

My gift idea is to get him everything he needs for an initial push to promote them. Lyric video, ad spend for Facebook and spotify....

what else am I missing?

If you wanna get real detailed. arrange for a photographer to get a few promotable shots of them as well. You don’t have to pay top dollar for a pro if you know a good local amateur photographer, a lot of times I find my photographers just by networking at shows, and they charge me $30 or less.

Also try to print some cheap merch like stickers, posters or pins, gives the band a way to make a little band fund on the side at shows, helps them become recognizable and spread the word.

If you know a graphic designer help them design a logo too, because that as well as the photos can in turn be used as a design on the band’s earliest merch, and on the flyers for their shows. It also helps them get booked, covered by media, and establish a recognizable brand if they have promo material - looks professional.

I also still recommend printing the songs to a lo fi demo CD in 2018, for only two songs I’d go cheap and not get too crazy with it. Burned copies or maybe even cassettes are fine. You likely can’t sell it but by handing it out you can get at least 10% of those people to give it a listen. Sounds futile but that actually becomes a good number, think how many demo CDs can be passed out by all of a band’s members in an hour.

 

It was a good show. It just ended poorly and I think that ruined it for everyone.

 

First three were good. Should've ended with him marrying Stella

 

Also, Ted Mosby sucks. But the thing HIMYM does better than any other Sitcom is keep certain jokes funny throughout the entire show. The slap bet is just as funny at the beginning as it is in the end. The Ducky tie is hysterical for an entire season.

I never finished it either. Quit halfway through the last season.

 

That show was the best

 

I'm rewatching it now and it's still hilarious and super deep and touching.

 

The last episode was a bad way to go, but, in that last season, "How Your Mother Met Me" was one of my favorite episodes in the series.

 

HIMYM overall was good, the last season is pretty bad though.

Also, I really loved Friends growing up, but after going through a rewatch recently it really has aged very poorly and has a lot of issues

 

Yeah I watched so much Friends growing up that I can point out almost every scene that the syndicated version cut.

At the expense of being very dramatic, ending of HIMYM was so bad that I can’t even watch old episodes I liked anymore. I don’t know if I blame them, because it seems kind of impossible to end that show well. But I was just really mad about that lol
