Some Reddit guy that apparently has correctly predicted / reported a bunch of stuff in the past.

In the thread in question, they refer to him as either the Shams or Woj of reddit. Which, despite how it sounds, is obstenibly a compliment.

I can see where the incentives are for both sides.

Cleveland want to signal to their fan base that they won’t be bottoming out.

Love knows that he probably won’t get that money / years on the open market.

So, I wouldn’t be surprised if this were true.

 

Yeah, plus 5x all-stars don't fall off trees, especially for a city like Cleveland where it's VERY difficult to lure free agents who aren't from around the area :)

As a Cavs fan, I'd prefer a full tank mode, but that would be under the assumption Kevin Love would walk next year anyway (assuming he'd decline his player option) so it would have been nice to trade him for a younger talent and a 1st rounder, but assuming you'd be trading him to a winning team, not sure if a mid to late first rounder would pan out. I'd be fine with the extension. If Sexton turns into a decent player (which so far I have no reason to believe he won't be) and Love shifts more toward Minnesota Love, you may be able to attract another legitimate player next summer when the Cavs should have some decent cap space.
