Nurkic is a RFA this summer, I wonder if Portland will take care of him with his injury

Edit: damn never mind his contract is a steal

Edit 2: I can’t believe Evan Turner makes that much more money than nurkic

They've got a bunch of free agents (Kanter, Hood, Aminu, Curry, and Jake Layman), and they're already over the projected cap for next year. The supporting pieces might look different, but I'm not sure how much they'll be able to improve things. Rumor has it Lillard may sign a supermax extension, too, but that won't kick in for another two years.

I feel bad for all these teams who probably would be at least have a good chance to get to the Finals if it weren't for the Warriors.

There's no way to know if Nurkic will ever be the same player, at least for next year. Look at Gordon Hayward this year...The Blazers will still be dangerous next year though.

I didn't watch enough Gordon Hayward this year to answer this question...but was he struggling because he was coming back from injury or was he struggling because it was essentially his first time playing with a roster that doesn't really make much sense for him? I always assumed it was the latter.

  7. I just hoped it was the basketball gods punishing him for giving Donald Trump money.

So, if the NBA wants a competitive finals series, Giannis gets a billion calls tonight and they win, setting up the finals and the two teams getting some rest. If they don't, this goes seven, Warriors win in 4, everyone puts all the asterisks on Durant's titles in the record books for years, he leaves, and the dynasty is finally up in turmoil.

I will be avoiding this thread all evening because it's insanity, but ... I'm excited for the offseason now.

Yeah, let's hope that happens. I just want KD out of GS more than anything. Let's start to balance things a little more. Makes things way more exciting.

I’m fine with whatever happens, I have no idea what would make KD stay or go. I just want more basketball

I really hope Portland giving Lillard the supermax plays out better for them than it has for some of the other teams who've done so. He absolutely deserves it, but those contracts can really hinder a team's ability to add players going forward. Though, I'd feel much better giving out that kind of money to him than (pre-injury) John Wall or Westbrook.

  16. Doesn't need, but if the series is being nudged in one direction, will get.

If anything, the NBA will want this series to go as long as possible so we don't have to go extended nights with no basketball.

  18. Do they want a tired East team to get swept, again, in the finals though?

Whether an East team is tired or rested, I don't think it's going to matter against the Warriors.

    Bucks shouldn’t be tired tbh

Yeah, the Bucks players' minutes have been pretty low the entire playoffs. Giannis is averaging 33 minutes per game, lol

genuinely excited for the series. even outside of me and drew, the opinions of how the next series will go seem to run the gamut. it’ll be more exciting than lebron vs. the warriors part 5, at least.

  25. Replace Westbrook with LeBron and that team wins 3 or 4 titles.
