i hope he’s good. i feel like he’s gonna be a worse combo of russ and john wall. he was super fun this year.

 

a worse combo of john wall and westbrook would be a massive draft win for the franchise that has gotten screwed by the lottery or themselves (thabeet) so many fucking times. i'll take that all day long.

kinda dumb that they leaked who they're picking because it blows leverage if NY is all-in on RJ and maybe would have considered trading up (unlikely) or for a possible conley trade since people know we're taking a PG. but I'm okay with it because it's a signal to the fanbase--and more importantly to our next head coach--that chris wallace is no longer GM, the new-look FO is not as dumb, and we're not gonna like pick tacko fall at #2 or something

Tacko Fall feels like a bust incarnate. RJ Barrett feels like a safe pick that won't transcend past role player. These are only hot takes based on nothing and I don't remember the names of most of the draft board picks.

 

To say the players after three are “bad” feels like a huge overreaction. It does seem like, most of the high upside players have a lot of question marks (shocker!)

Is Ibaka that bad on the perimeter compared to Gasol (defense and offense?), appears so looking at stats. Gasol can't defend PnR or anyone on the perimeter and he allows Lopez to clog the lane when the Raps have the ball. If Gasol plays 35+ min this series, no way Toronto wins. Gasol has only gotten 10 or more rebounds twice this entire playoffs.

Feel like Toronto won't get another solid chance in Milwaukee to steal one like that after Bledsoe and Middleton weren't there on the offense, Giannis has a "regular" night (gotta imagine they attack Gasol/Ibaka on PnR hard, like the 4th quarter), and Brogdon will surely only get better as the series goes on.

 

There's just so much hyperbole surrounding draft prospects it's so ridiculous to put any stock into it (this can be said for EVERY sport)

Just get them clicks baby

The dude who tweeted that (about the #4 pick being worst in history) did go on with tweets about each prospect and why he thought they were bad. I have no idea who that guy is. It's obvious hyperbole, but at the same time, I'm not excited about any of them either.

 

Well, you always have to respect a guy who has 3,000 followers on his unverified Twitter and a WordPress blog about the NBA Draft.

 

I'm pretty big on Nickeil Alexander-Walker. He reminds me a lot of Dinwiddie.

 

I think he's got a little Malcolm Brogdon in him, too. I've been hoping he drops to 16th so Orlando can take him, but I doubt he does.

There might not be as many potential stars as in years past, but I think this draft has a ton of interesting role players.
