Funny thing is, it looks like the appraiser short changed us about 195 sq ft compared to parcel records (not sure how that happened) but we might have even more equity than that.

But yeah, will probably look to ditch King County and move down to Pierce (Bonney Lake area) in the next few years.

Pittsburgh real estate is super affordable. We bought our house two years ago (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 stories + dry basement, backyard, patio, etc.) for under $100k.

We have a family friend who a short while ago debated us tooth and nail that Pittsburgh was it's own state and not part of Pennsylvania..... Where's the tsunami when you need it?

Well, my mail definitely says PA on it.. so you can tell them that JR from the internet told them that they're wrong.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Christ, I need to move out of Chicago and head back east. My girlfriend and I have been occasionally looking at property in our neighborhood now and if we can find a decent 3 bed, 2 bath for under $300k...well, we'd be ecstatic.

Yeah I'm jealous. My 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath with small ass yards was 420K.

Brand new home and it has some cool features and all but god damn.

About apartments and how expensive this dumbass city is....my little brother just finished his freshman year at the University of Washington and has been living in my house for the past year. The commute between driving to the light rail and the light rail ride itself from where I live to get to campus is about 75-90 minutes so it stinks for him.

Anyways, we got him all set up in an apartment down in the University District close to campus and the city in general. 360 sq ft for $1,500 (which includes no utilities at all).

    lol.

A 1 bedroom with no utilities for 1500 is normal or sometimes cheap here

The best thing is to just get a really big, nice place and get a few roommates. Duplexes are all the rage.

oh this isn't even with a bedroom, its just a 360 sq ft box.

Yeah I don't know why more people don't do that. Living with a married couple right now and adding another whenever I move out west haha.

We're not quite that bad, a 1 bedroom may cost you that much in Denver but you probably get 500 sq ft lol

    It's wild.

We were just charging him $500 for utilities/food/whatever and he thought that was a little steep but yeah, he's not thinking that much now.

Yeah I'd probably just do Boulder/Tacoma if I was in that area.

A lot of it just depends on your proximity to the city and what not. If you live like 40mins to an hour from the major city you can get a way better deal. Idk how the hell people live in major cities and areas TBH anyway

That's what, a week and a half's worth of part-time work up there? That's not bad at all haha. Especially for the area. Though fuck that commute.

Tacoma is getting to be just as bad. It's not there yet but this whole region is pricing younger people out. My house is right in between Tacoma and Seattle. We chose to build where we did because the SAME EXACT house 15 miles north of Seattle was going to cost us another $110K as opposed to building 19 miles south of Seattle which saved us that $110K

We've got a 4 bedroom house and we rent out the room in the basement to one of our friends for $600 which is nice and she's never even home lol

I've seen some sick customized double floor lofts with four to six people living in them in big houses they share with like two other families. Real estate is fun when you're not spending money haha

Also super stoked because the house across the street from us sold for the same price we paid for ours and it was really shitty lol it needs a complete renovation
