My parents happen to be going to Kissimmee this week for vacation and said the ROC airport was overflowing with Bills fans heading south. My ice cold heart is warmed to its core.

Also it's so nice to see other people talking about head coaches while knowing we finally have a decent one, even if he did do that Peterman thing.

What are you afraid of? Mariota can’t throw like Brady.

Tebow divine intervention aside, McDaniels wasn’t really that good when he left NE the first time.

Haha I’m just saying man. A west coast offense with a QB who isn’t good at varying his touch / velocity is not that scary. Timing & ball placement are everything in that kind of scheme.

Now, a west coast offense with a QB like Brady or Garroppolo is terrifying. But it’s one of the hardest offenses to learn and you really have to be an extremely natural and efficient thrower of the football to fit the ball in those quick-closing windows.

Mariota has a quick release but he sucks at adapting his velocity and throwing arc when the defense is in front of the receiver. Call cover 2 and he’ll get stumped and scramble out of the pocket.

If this was any other team but the Titans you would be agreeing hahaha. That offense is perfect for McDaniels.

Not really? The team doesn’t have very precise route runners either outside of their TE. And McDaniels has never been a ground and pound, ball control kind of coach. I really don’t know what part of TEN you’re talking about that even comes close to what McDaniels likes to do.

The Rams, are an example of a team I could see McDaniels having success with, because their QB and WR are suited to West Coast Offense Football in addition to a strong running game. TEN not so much.

They’re better suited to like, power / sweep / stretch play action & bootleg heavy offense out of the shotgun, kinda like what Doug Pederson does for the Eagles. Lots of pre-play motion, complex power blocking with a lot of pull and seal blocks, lots of horizontal routes, mostly 3 step drop pass plays unless it’s play action.

Tennessee is very well equipped to run McDaniels scheme on offense, man haha

I mean, I gave you specific reasons why they aren’t, a specific team that DOES have what McDaniels needs, and a specific kind of offense that’d work better for TEN.

You’re allowed to disagree but you haven’t yet given me a reason or counterpoint.

He was coaching the fucking Colts offensive line and got a PROMOTION to a BETTER team

They have the personnel and depth. He made Blount look elite, imagine Henry. He's made worse receivers than Davis, Sharpe, Matthews, and Taylor look good. He's got Delanie for one more year and a great prospect in Jonnu. Great offensive line.

He is a very good offensive mind. You don't get to be a very good anything by refusing to adapt to your surroundings. Tennessee has played like ass under a bad coach and they are the 5th seed. What exactly turns you away from a good coach not at least matching this?

  14. Can he come coach Cam?

The Panthers and Titans infuriate me.

Yes, draft versatile athletes to run your bland offense. Great plan.

So you're saying, he's made average skill position talent look great before, why can't he do it in Tennessee?

My argument has a lot to do with strategy. Your reasoning is more so "the existing talent would play better under McDaniels". I'm gonna start with, that statement might be true, I do hate Mike Mularkey and I think he's soft as a motivator. But they lucked into a 5th seed just like we lucked into a 3 seed with an easy schedule and the rest of our division/conference being godawful. Next year it will be much harder for both of us to get in the playoffs.

    1) a lot of that is Brady & Belicheck too. You can't "make those receivers look good" if your QB struggles to put them in that position. Nobody topped 850 receiving yards when McDaniels was in Denver. It's not just about having good route combinations in your playbook and understanding how to attack coverages... sure McDaniels has those things. But the ball has to get there, often it has to sail over zone defenders, and it can't be early or late. Not much room for error. I just think Mariota would struggle to execute a well formulated gameplan by McDaniels, because it would ask so much more of how he throws the ball. He already struggles the limited few times they ask him to make a challenging throw now.

    2) Blount has honestly been effective everywhere. I don't like his attitude but as a player he's often one of the league's most imposing power backs, he ripped off yardage in Philly, Pittsburgh, and Tampa too. I'd go so far as to say that Henry still isn't as good of a RB as Blount was throughout his prime.

    3) It's easy to blame it all on the coach. I just don't agree with that in this case. I think the personnel in the passing game is a mismatch -- receivers that like to win man coverage, with a QB who can mostly only throw in space and doesn't throw back shoulder or jump balls? what? The offense goes through Mariota and Henry but both of them have lopsided skillsets with obvious playing styles and obvious shortcomings. Idk dude, its coach and players IMO.

But we're shit talking a playoff team that swept us right now so there's only so much I can say it's hurting them. I just think, yes McDaniels is smart and worth pursuing, but TEN is an awful fit for him, their GM did not draft a McDaniels style offense.

Matt is good bait too. He disagrees with about 90% of what I say even though we root for the same team.

Possibly. But you can't predict luck.

His best two receivers were two rookies, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, who started a combined two games that year. His staff was Mike McCoy at OC and Adam Gase at WR.

Mariota struggles because of coaching. When you have no confidence and are not allowed to play your game, it's amazing how much your abilities are hindered. Case Keenum is a fine example of what can happen simply by not being shit. Mike Zimmer isn't a great QB coach by any stretch. He's just literally not shit and that's enough haha.

Blount topped 1,000 yards once before last season and scored 18 touchdowns, which is more than he scored with the Bucs, Steelers, and Eagles put together. I thoroughly have no clue what you mean.

If Henry has eight carries for 40 yards plus five receptions for 12 yards today Henry's stats would literally be the same as Blount's were his sophomore season.

    It's mostly the coaches.

Tennessee is not an awful fit for him lol. That's absurd.

    True

Who knows but you cannot deny the success he Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense had between 2007 and 2011
