Like Garoppolo makes sense. Kessler MIGHT make sense. If Mallett keeps his work ethic he's gotten since going to Baltimore he's a pretty good backup too. But holy hell hahahaha. Like Matt Cassell? Landry Jones? Chase Daniel? What a joke.

 

Kaep led a team to the super bowl and almost won, was on winning teams and then baalke threw the team in the dumpster and he was still decent last year with only playing half the year and with garbage... id say he's better than 99% of that list or backups in general. Only one can make an argument against it and it's only because he sits behind brady and only has looked good on the pats

 

Then there's the upside of rookie backups which makes complete sense, where you want a cheap guy to be your backup so the backup isn't necessarily better but it's still a better value and you're keeping for potential

But Kaepernick is absolutely good enough to be a backup on plenty of teams. Hell good enough to be a starter on some. The only genuine argument against the idea that he's being blackballed is semantics on what blackballing is, and semantics are pointless to argue

Hell if the plan is to sit Mahomes for an entire year why the hell not the Chiefs sign Kaepernick to back up Smith while Mahomes develops? If the plan becomes to sit Watson for a year why not have Kaep instead of Weeden? I don't get it

Should he be on a team ? Sure he should be. Is better than more than half that list ? That he is. But it just comes down to with teams not wanting to deal with the media circus over it.
