Oh well. I am going to embrace the suck. This will be a very appealing job in the offseason. Tons of cap space and maybe the #1 overall pick.

 

You're assuming everyone gets fired a little soon and then on the other hand assuming woody or Chris will hire anyone remotely good let alone better

 

They'll deserve to get fired after this. Maccagnan has lucked into the best player available in the first round for two of his three drafts. The rest of his picks have been highly questionable, especially Darron Lee and Christian Hackenberg.

This has been my team for my entire life. I know how Woody operates - if they get embarrassed all season long (highly likely), he is going to make a splash hire. It may not be a good hire, but he won't settle for another awful season. He has always been awfully reactionary. He's given them three seasons and they've progressively gone downhill.

 

I mean yea, sad jets fan desperation. I get it. What do you even do if you get no.1? It's gonna be hard to play darnold with the worries that ol and wr will give him.

Also kind of crazy that if they waited they would've hired dan Quinn instead, he would've been fired too though. This roster is so bad I don't think it matters that much who the coach is, that's why I'm not so thrilled about firing Bowles. They need to hire someone young with the goal of developing the guys they will draft. They have to be awful for another year or two and then figure out if that coach is the right guy, this is all assuming they find some amazing gm out of the clear blue

 

You don't have to play Sam Darnold if you take him first overall. You'd have to bring in a stopgap to compete with him.

I think they have enough money to go out and get some offensive talent, especially at OL. The entire roster needs to be reworked, but Darnold is an elite quarterback prospect so they'd have to take him.

I'm not too optimistic about the next few years, but if they go get someone like Jon Gruden (who has been rumored), that rebuild speeds up a bit because free agents will come to play for him.

They can develop all the draft picks they want, but they also need to start winning in free agency again too.

My problem with Bowles is that the defense has some talent and they are still garbage. He's also completely mismanaged this quarterback competition. The guy is a dead man walking right now. This is going to be the worst NYJ team since '96.

 

Yea, it's really hard to be optimistic. They do have cap and will have high picks but I just have a hard time trusting someone who hires casserole to find your gm and coach for you finding someone better lol hypothetically, you're right and this could end up working out well or well... jetsy and a mess. I really don't believe the gruden stuff, I think in a year or two when that deal is up he may consider it though but the jets will have hired someone by then. Hypothetically, harbaugh is in the table but I highly doubt that. Mcdaniels is always around but it seems like he'll never leave either, I mean take your pick. I would play Matt moore or some random stopgap qb all year for a high pick and then you hopefully have enough but players picked that high usually get thrown in because of pressure. I wonder if a trade where the jets could still go from 1 to 2 or 3 could happen because you can still probably get Allen and get picks but idk if it's worth the risk.

I think the biggest issue with Bowles is that players aren't progressing under him, I guess hypothetically it could change during the regular season but I don't see it. You can't have him be so focused on winning to keep his job that the younger players aren't getting better every year or gelling at all.

 

It sounds like Stephen Morris has been the Colts' best QB again tonight and I hope the coaching staff actually seriously considers starting him if Luck is out.

Judging from the preseason, I can't wait for this Browns vs. Seahawks Super Bowl we can expect this year.
