On paper the Jags will definitely win more games than the Bears but who knows

(I think they will though. I have no opinion on the truly great Glennon-Bortles debate but Bortles has 3 good receivers to throw to and Glennon has a TE kinda.)

 

I think John fox might be a tiny bit better than marrone but who the hell knows.

The Bears, who forgot to inform their coach of the plan for their franchise, is a more stable organization? Bears are a bottom five team at best.

Still waiting for how Mike "Can't Beat Out McCown" Glennon is better than Bortles. Or how the Bears are better than the Jaguars despite the Jaguars underperforming last year and vastly improving across the offseason while Chicago had the worst off season in the NFL and we're already one of the worst teams in the league.

 

Finishing 5-10 would be pretty impressive

 

I'm not in the camp that sees the Bears as better than the Jaguars, I definitely think the Jaguars are better. But I think the reason people see the Bears being better is exactly what's quoted above: the Jaguars get this hype nearly every offseason and never deliver. People are fatigued from the offseason hype and want results.

I don't quite see that as justification. Justification for the Jaguars not being that good but that doesn't elevate the Bears in any way. Plus, this is strictly talking about the team on paper at this point. On paper, Jags have no reason not to be competing for the division.

 

I agree with both points. And I think putting the Bears over the Jags is stupid. I don't think it's justification either but it doesn't change that people do it. They're sick of "on paper" from the Jags and the Rams (so glad that's over) and those "surprise teams" of every offseason.
