kawhi is, what, 26? you draft players like jaylen brown to get someone who will eventually turn into maybe-kawhi. i would absolutely trade him or tatum for kawhi.

My take is that if the Spurs want to trade Kawhi Leonard there's probably a good reason and I wouldn't want him

 

But also my biases shine more in basketball than any other sport so never listen to me

 

The Celtics (or any team) would have to match salaries. You can't just trade a few young guys and draft picks for a guy making $20 million. They'd have to match outgoing salary with incoming salary.

As far as Leonard and Irving opting out, they could, but hypothetically speaking, Boston would be able to offer them the most money since they were both traded. You can go over the cap to re-sign your own guys. You cannot go over the cap to bring in free agents and/or trading for players without sending back the same salary (or more).

Out of teams that make sense, I still think Cleveland and Boston can offer the best packages.
