I really thought Felix had enough at the end there, but couldn't quite keep that pace up. Pretty pathetic the winner dived imo though; looked pretty intentional

Diving intentionally in track is legal. Learned that tonight.

  3. Yeah I wasn't sure if I should be annoyed by that or not. Oh well. Do whatcha gotta do to win.

It wasn't an intentional dive, you lose more than you gain through diving. Just looked like her legs gave way. Don't think Felix would have won if Miller stayed on her feet as she didn't dip properly at the line.

Michael Johnson doesn't think it was intentional so that's enough for me.

Ehhhh I'm going to disagree with Michael Johnson on this one

I forgot people on the internet knew more about running than one of the greatest runners ever.

I may "know" less than Michael Johnson, but I've been a competitive runner/sprinter all my life as well, from middle school, high school, college, and after college now. So I have some idea of what I'm talking about

Convenient. I won gold in the 400m at the first Olympics ever.

Miller was stumbling and fell over the line, momentum. Felix left too much to do and would have lost either way, if the race was 5m longer she would have won.

Well unlike you (unless you were a track athlete), I have watched hundreds, if not thousands, of sprint race finishes, so I'd like to think I know what a competitive finish looks like, compared to an intentional dive

She totally intentionally got into a falling motion(it's pretty obvious), but it's useless to keep arguing at this point, not going to change our opinions. It's a legal move and that's that.

But yeah, if it was a bit longer Felix probably would have won; Miller had the longer stride, but Felix had the thinner frame, which probably would have helped with a slightly longer race

Men and Women 1500m finals, Men and Women 400m hurdles, Men and Women 200m, and a bunch of other events in track today/tonight

I won gold mate. 400m in 42 seconds. IOC asked me not to compete as i was too fast, wanted to make the event exciting.

Another point to make is that if 2nd place wasn't American no one here would give a shit.

I still would have commented on it regardless, maybe not as vigorously, but because of how obvious it was, being a big fan of track and field myself, it's still a point of contention I would have talked about

Ben Blankenship just barely made it into the men's 1500m semi-finals(finals?); he ran for the U of Minnesota(I went to a university right across the river), and he won overall the Twin Cities 1-mile race earlier this year that I also participated in (I was over 2 minutes behind, haha)

Also, when it was pouring rain last night in the stadium, they still had women's discuss go on for a bit, but then 6 women in a row hit the net with their discs, so they finally stopped it until the rain stopped

If you've been watching the gymnastics streams instead of primetime, you've gotten the best announcer of the Olympics in the background. She's so over the top and intense. I think she's like an in-arena announcer who introduces everyone and follows them up.

Laura Trott and Jason Kenny are going to make somekind of super track cyclist babies. 10 Olympic golds between them now and both have a couple more Olympics in them.

Only managed 6 golds from 10 track cycling events this time around, but medaled in 9 of them taking 11 medals in total. Not a bad display.

I like it when basketball players learn to appreciate volleyball. They're like, "what the fuck is this?" And I'm all like, "the sport of Gods."

My completely uneducated on how gymnastics is truly scored and judged opinion/hot take is that Aly's floor routine was better than Simone's today.

NBC Primetime coverage is an absolute joke. 11 minutes in and we've had one single race (110m hurdles) and two commercial breaks.
