There are times where he reminds me of Manny Ramirez. Insane power, but can be a liability in the field at times. Big difference between the two in terms of their defense is that Cespedes has a cannon of an arm. Manny couldn't even hit the cutoff.

I cannot believe Pelfrey signed for $16M. Maybe I'm being ignorant of some magical time period where Pelfrey did well, but I can't remember him ever putting up good enough numbers to earn this much money.

 

Shelby miller, eh

 

Actually, while he was awful in the field, and didn't throw that hard, he was usually fairly accurate

 

Interesting little tidbit:

Jered Weaver, as of 2014, was ranked No. 8 all time in quality starts percentage of all pitchers with at least 100 starts. Not sure where he currently ranks but as of right now, in his career, 65.4% of his starts have been quality starts (193 of 295).

He's had one hell of an under-appreciated career. If his velocity hadn't started to drop drastically two or three years ago, he would still be getting another nice big contract this offseason (can't believe he's owed $20 million this year).

 

What a deal that's going to be for Atlanta if Shelby keeps pitching like this. Honestly though, what bizarre pitching mechanics he has. His hand scrapes the base of the mound on every pitch.

 

There was a lottt of talk about him regressing sooner than later, didn't expect it to be THIS soon. I guess Stewart and La Russa aren't into that kind of stuff.

I also feel like if they asked half the other gms for one of their top pitchers for that hall they may have gotten a better one.

I have to rub my eyes every time he hits another home run. It's unbelievable!

 

Mike Pelfrey has the second best ERA in the Tigers rotation

and that makes me a little sad

 

Has there ever been a time when a team like forfeited the majority of the season because they were so bad?

 

Can a team even forfeit a game?

I remember the Tim Hudson fall. Everybody was laughing once they realized he wasn't hurt and just fell. Chipper Jones laughed for like 10 minutes straight lol

 

New White Sox play by play guy is such an insane improvement over Hawk I might actually enjoy watching their games now lol
