Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

He's obvious choice for ROY, even if we're 2 months in. Maybe even AL MVP if Trout falls off.

You are so lucky! I was just visiting but my wife and I have considered in the near future settling in Chicago and that would be my first purchase, season tickets. And I'm not even a Cubs fan!

I love sitting on the 1st baseline like right under the deck overhang. I've had seats everywhere and behind the plate were the worst if you ask me.

Adjacent to the bases are my favorite but I am biased to 1st. Unless I'm at Yankee Stadium. Then it's Bleacher Creatures all the way.

I've sat 1st base side at Rangers Ballpack and 3rd base side at Mets. I think the 3rd base was my favourite, but I was a lot closer to the field so that might have helped.

I love the outfield behind McCutchen as PNC park. Great, cheap seats and he throws balls into the stands between every inning. And lots of homerun balls coming your way.

I'd love for the Giants to give Mad Bum a start as DH the next time they play away at an AL team.

Seats I get through work are 3rd base side about 4-5 rows back from the center of the dugout at Minute Maid Park. Love them!

Whenever we have seats in the outfield, we get sloppy drunk and take our gloves to try and catch HR balls. Kids be damned! I'm kidding I give them away as long as it's not like a record breaking HR or something.

Minute Maid seems like such a great park to catch a game in. And I don't care what anyone says, Tal's Hill needed to stay. It was unique! It's just that damn pole that was in the way that killed the idea.

I guess it really depends on what you mean by your question. They definitely matter historically, otherwise teams wouldn't retire numbers. Also, while there aren't clear delinations by the rules for which positions wear which numbers, as in the NFL, there is an informal separation wherein pitchers, especially relievers, tend to wear higher numbers.

I've also always thought of #25 as a power hitter's number: Bonds, McGwire, Thome, Palmeiro, but that's mostly a product of growing up watching those players and finding a pattern in numbers.

I had a big book of baseball jersey numbers as a kid and it had a lot of stories about players' reasonings for their jersey number as well as tales of players buying a certain jersey number from another player. For example, this offseason Jason Heyward bought Addison Russell an expensive watch and a backpack (Gucci, maybe?) in exchange for still being able to wear #22, the number his childhood best friend who died wore when they played together as kids.

Personally, I stole Barry Zito's reasoning for wearing #75--because it made a nice "shelf" for his name--by wearing #57 when I played as a kid and in high school, also because I pitched and I always had a sense of pitchers wearing higher numbers.

So, I think jersey numbers do matter in a way. They add another layer to the game. It's not a crucial layer or anything, but it's another web in the great history of baseball. As for original comment, I was just wondering aloud about whether this is a new trend for starting pitchers, since historically (at least in the modern game) pitchers have not worn single digit jersey numbers.

Yeah Refsnyder. They need to get him in at some spot every night. He's literally our best hitter right now.

It's still there as of now and I agree, it makes the park unique to me, plus there will always be the infamous Lance Berkman catch.

I thoroughly enjoy the park, still like my Rangers Ballpark better but I'm biased.

This is fascinating, had no idea. It was a genuine question, I thought it was just random selection and people stuck with it because they grew fond of it.

Such awful news about David Wright. Out for "an extended period of time" (I've seen 4-6 weeks) to deal with a herniated disk in his neck.

humongous foresight here but this is why in the back of my head i kinda loved the idea of Neil walker AND murphy to be signed. As an organization you knew that Wright was only good for half a year.

No Wright, Duda, and D-arnaud...all of a sudden our lineup is looking kinda bad again. Too much pressure for Conforto.

  24. I'm gonna be in LA this weekend and saw tickets to see Kershaw were pretty cheap. Bought some decent seats in the lower part of the uppers on the 3rd baseline. Anyone familiar with Dodger Stadium wanna tell me how the view will be?

How often do you see fans of other teams not even playing at the stadium that night? I'm talking at least a jersey/shirt and a hat. Such a common thing at Angels Stadium.
