I'm still trying to understand this chart.

 

I think the gist of it basically is Boedker scores a little but his team numbers are very weak.

 

Oh I figured it out but man that graphic is just hard to look at. It goes everywhere fast.

 

Sounds like an upgrade on Talbot and Rinaldo, I'll take it

 

Demers the only bigger name left?

 

Demers and Russell are the biggest left.

 

At this rate the Ducks are just gonna have open try outs. Time to pull the skates out of the garage.

 

Here is who is left from the TSN Top 50. Some decent names...

Forwards: Jimmy Vesey (Aug 15th), Jiri Hudler, Radim Vrbata, Kris Versteeg, P.A. Parenteau, Sam Gagner, Brandon Pirri, Alex Tanguay, Lauri Korpikoski.

Defense: Jason Demers, Kris Russell, Luke Schenn, Justin Schultz, Roman Polak, Matt Bartkowski, Dennis Seidenberg, Eric Gryba, Matt Carle, Kyle Quincey.

Goalies: Jhonas Enroth

 

Canes need a 2nd or 3rd pair guy. Schenn or Schultz would work.

 

How is Roman Polak not signed? That's basically two free 2nd round picks 8 months from now.

 

I've always respected Detroit as an organization but the thought of Steve Ott in a Wings jersey makes me wanna hurl.

 

Wings definitely made some questionable moves today. Them missing on Stamkos seemed to really fuck them over.

 

The eternal sadness that is being a Blues fan continued on today.

 

I decided to just look at who they signed and yeah the questionable me one overshadow the good one.

The Vanek one is a big wait and see but he looked disastrous in Minny.

The Helm and Ott ones just looked like some poor decisions altogether.

I do like the Nielsen one especially when his point total last season was more than anyone on the Red Wings last year but altogether a big eh first day.

Maybe the Helm and Ott deals could have been used instead to get Demers?

 

Yea, they did nothing to address their D issues, plus, even though I really like Nielsen, that contract will take him to age 38. Just seems like they cleared that Datsyuk contract for not much substance. I'm not even sure how much room they have left to sign a Demers-level d-man.

 

Appropriate team name is appropriate.

 

They currently have 4 million in cap space with 17 forwards and 5 defenseman signed next year so yeah unless they have a masterful trade planned, I don't see that defense being good.

Plus the goaltending market is drying up even more for a Howard trade.

I'd definitely take a flyer on Versteeg on a one year deal. Gives us a legit RW if Backes decides to play behind Bergy and Krejci

 

another reminder to @Chris Yates about how good your defense is.

 

If you would have told me before this past season that they would lose Shea Weber at season's end, and get better defensively, I would have called you crazy.

Oldest defenseman is 28. They have set themselves up to be very good for a very long time.

He can't help that, it's just how he looks man.

 

Good to see the Ducks did nothing to improve the team today. I would have preferred to keep at least one of Perron or McGinn, but they couldn't even do that.

 

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Nearly everyone who signed yesterday was overpaid. Staal had the most reasonable contract.
