I'm pretty happy with what Francis has done this offseason. Signing Aho to his ELC, trading for Teuvo, and now two cheap free agents to provide some depth with our young roster.

Skinner - Rask - Teravainen
Nordstrom - Staal - Nestrasil
Aho - Lindholm - Stempniak
Stalberg - McClement - Di Giuseppe
(Bickell as an extra fwd)

That's not flashy but if we see the expected progression with our young players we can make the playoffs.

After estimating what Murphy and Rask get, we are still $3m below the cap floor. A veteran defenseman should get us over that number.

He can play C or RW. Best on the 4th line. Doesn't do any one thing great but he's a decent player all-around. There will be games where you don't even notice him.

 

A few days ago Kevin Kurz tried to suggest the Sharks would trade Marleau to get Stamkos and everyone called him out on it.

Today he suggests Boedker signing could hint at a Marleau trade even though it doesn't at all.

The dude just doesn't like Marleau at all for some strange reason.
