Lol any semblance of the 49ers defense as it was 2 years ago

I wish the Jags would have ever shown interest in him. I feel like the skillset he had coming out of college would be intriguing for our OTTO which is basically a hybrid between a 3-4 OLB and a SAM linebacker (who makes more tackles in space)

I mean, we drafted Luke Joeckel that year... Dion Jordan even if he does nothing is not any worse

I'm actually interested to see what Mingo can do this season. He's been misused and stuck with awful (and different) coaching for his entire career. He reportedly packed on 25 lbs of muscle this offseason. His best season was when he was being worked in slowly as a part of Horton's defense in 2013, so it should be interesting to see.

Luke Joeckel, as awful trash as he is....at least he actually suits up on gamedays and gets on the field.

Eagles really dodged a bullet on the Dion Jordan ordeal with the idiot Dolphins trading right ahead of them for him because that is clearly where Chip was going to go if he was on the board at #4.

So in retrospect, the Top 3 picks from that draft (Fisher, Joeckel, Jordan) are major busts while the Eagles sitting at #4 snagged a solid right tackle who will slide over in 2017 to left to take over for JP.

I was pounding the table for Dion Jordan and was crushed when Miami traded ahead of them (not as crushed as the Eagles trading up for Brandon Graham instead of Earl Thomas, however) so that is why I'm willing to wait out this Carson Wentz thing and give it a shot although right now, I hate it.

They are apparently going to do everything to allow Jordan to be on the team this year

    We'll see how that goes

Lane Johnson was a great pick. But if Chip Kelly got his guy Dion he would have absolutely used him because he was already well aware of what he can and can't do. There was no figuring out a role, there was no expecting him to anchor in the trenches and benching him because he's too slender to do that. The Dolphins apparently drafted him based off of incorrect projections, while Kelly would've known exactly what to do with him to use his strengths.

As far as Wentz, I mean the media did hype him up a lot for a player who still has a competition leap to adjust to.. But for what it's worth he's by no means a bad quarterback. His pocket movement and footwork are far advanced compared to Goff and he's going to a better offensive roster than the Rams, with a line that can protect him. Also, he may not have the exact ball placement that maximizes yards after catch but he did impress me with his accuracy on throws in the 15-20 yard range.

If you ask me, adjusting to the NFL game as a quarterback starts from the legs up, considering how little time and space you have to maneuver, and how much bad footwork can affect timing and accuracy. Wentz might pick things up faster than Goff just because he's in a better situation, and I see the Eagles being more likely to give him simple reads early on while he gets comfortable.

the problem also is Joe Philbin had absolutely no idea how to use Dion Jordan properly

When he was in Houston, I had a buddy who claimed to have seen him at a few indie/alternative shows.

Said he was hammered and dancing like a maniac at an M83 show once. Which is hilarious to picture, a man of his size tends to stand out.

Perhaps we are giving Chip a little more credit here because this is the guy who over drafted Marcus Smith to play as an undersized 3-4 OLB. Smith should be better this year as a rotational 4-3 DE which is what he should have been from the start.

The thing with Wentz is that in this league, you really aren't going anywhere without a franchise QB and so will he be that? Who knows but that is why I'm reserved on it because I know Bradford wasn't it. So they're taking a huge risk here but that is what you need to do when you've been in QB purgatory for going on ten years now. We will see.

$19 mil in year one, $11 mil year two. I'm interested to see how it breaks out. He's a stud though, he only really struggled with Chandler Jones. I still can't believe he played all of 2014 at a decent level after having his kidney removed like, shortly before training camp

Goff is a spread college QB who will be forced to operate mostly under center behind a bad offensive line and with poor receivers. If you don't think he'll struggle mightily with the adjustment in his rookie year then regardless what you like about his skillset you may be overrating him imo.

I was responding to the bold, where you said Wentz had better footwork and pocket movement. He really, really didn't. Wentz's footwork was slow and often aimless. I absolutely agree that Goff will have a tough adjustment, but Wentz in terms of as a prospect, has more to adjust to. Wentz played in a lower level of competition, on a dominant, running football team and is a slow decision maker who doesn't show great anticipation/timing. I could be wrong, I've certainly been wrong before, but I'm confident Wentz will never live up to his draft billing and I'm still at a loss why any team would take him at #2 overall when they could have had Cardale, a very similar prospect who at least faced and succeeded at times against top level competition, in the fourth,

Cardale seems like he might be a bit of a headcase, buffalo and rex are a perfect fit for him
