I'd rather do the Seahawks/Patriots/Cowboys thing and build a very good team and plug a cheap, mid to late round rookie QB in. Worst case, you're Houston, and best case, you've got a QB on a rookie contract who is good enough to win games and is developing so he's actually good when it's time to pay up.

 

Fun fact: The Browns have picked a QB in the first 15 picks ONCE since being reinstated in 1999, despite having many picks in that range, and it was #1 overall Tim Couch in 1999.

The Texans have only picked 1 as well (#1 overall David Carr in 2002) but have picked in the top 15 much less than Cleveland and have had at least one good free agent QB since then (Matt Schaub, despite 2013).

 

The Patriots should not be the example of this, like it's not like Drew Bledsoe was a mediocre QB his whole career, he was a #1 overall pick himself.

If you guys are interested, my league and AP merged, we are at 25 or 26 guys in year 4 I think. We have 27 dudes signed up for next year. Slyck and I are commish, with Dome, Kevin, another AP guy, and ATL as admins

This is a good point. I hadn't really delved into the psychology of such an act. It is a fascinating hypothetical though I guess?

I really wouldn't put much stock in the reports about the Browns taking Trubisky at one. Anyone who watched the press conference last week or read past comments would come away thinking it's Garrett. They just don't want to announce it because they are debating whether to trade back up with Chicago or Tennessee, or to hold at twelve.

 

Let's, you know, NOT give Tennessee more picks

 

I don't really think the Browns are concerned about how many picks the Titans have. Even though I think the Jets are bluffing in their interest in Trubisky, I think you have to get above them to guarantee it and the Titans, along with the Bears are pretty open about wanting more picks.
