Sources: #49ers expected to be early front-runner for Josh Norman. #Jaguars have interest. Story coming.

late to the party. Doesn't it sorta say something that a team like the browns, a team that desperately needs a real franchise QB, decided to trade down when a viable QB would've been available for them? Or is it the Browns, so taking their opinion on talent is dumb dumb

  3. It's the Browns so they probably love Wentz and think they can get him at #8

Well the browns also desperately need lots of players everywhere. They could potentially have two top 10 picks next year depending how bad the Eagles do.

Having a franchise QB with nothing except for a couple good O-lineman won't help your team either.

From a value-based perspective, it's a great move. Ultimately, bringing in a QB, who may or may not be a franchise savior, is pretty risky when your O-line is in transition, you have absolutely nothing at WR, a so-so running game and a defense that probably won't do you any favors on field position.

I'm not saying Wentz or Goff won't be solid QBs, but it's not exactly like people are talking about them as surefire hits. I trust this move a little more than normal for a Browns-y move like this. If they had some no-name HC come in and they were making this move, it would be much more difficult to swallow than having made this move with a QB-savvy mind like Hue Jackson coaching the team. Really, it cuts both ways and the success of these QBs and the Browns' need at the position aren't quite mutually exclusive ideas.

It'll probably be hackenberg at the top of round 2 or somethng

Eagles pick won't be in the Top 10 next year. They may not be a great team or anything like that but they won't be Top 10 bad.

Hoping that the Browns can move down to 13 or 15 and pick up another 2nd for somebody looking to move up for Zeke or Stanley.

Then take big daddy Treadwell. Best case IMO

I don't see Jax going for him. Yes, we have 54m in cap space, 2m more than SanFran, but we have some key players to lock up in a couple more years (Bortles, ARob, Hurns, Linder, Telvin Smith) and will need money to spend on our own guys.

San Fran can overpay for him, I don't see Jax doing it. We'll see though. I'm usually very wrong about this kind of stuff.

Wouldn't mind that at all. I'd love Reggie Ragland too.

What happens when you apparently act like a jackass during negotiations. He was good but not a game changer like he acts like he is.

I love me some Ragland too. I guess I'm confident that Davis and Kirksey can hold down the middle though.

He has a pretty good agent

But that's a reason to front-load his deal. Hand him a huge roster bonus and base salary this year, and make all the future years smaller base salaries. His cap hit could be $20mil this year and like $10mil/yr going forward.

Also, the Jags just literally need to spend money. They are at a serious risk of not hitting the 89% mark, since they spent at like 78% in 2013 and 85% in 2014. Handing out a huge frontloaded deal to a stud CB is the best way to hit that mark

Revis' deal is kind of the model. His cap hit in years 1-3 is $15-17mil. Its $10mil in years 4-5. And he can be cut after year 2 without too big a cap hit. Give Norman a $20mil base in 2016, $10mil bases from there on out (with 2017 also guaranteed). You're basically handing him a 2yr/$30mil deal that, going forward, has like 10th-12th CB cap hits after this year.

I meant more in the sense that the writer said he was disappointed he didn't stay with the panthers but the way it sounded is that he wasn't willing to do anything but top dollar CB money. At a certain point these guys need to realize especially with the salary cap if you want top dollar you better not care who you play for. He thought he could have both. The only thing he salary cap benefits is the ownership.

Also heard that the Panthers realized he was going to be a headache if he didn't get what he wanted so they just decided to cut sling load before he causes any issues.

Skins could make the money work for Norman, highly doubt Scot would do it though.

  21. Sounds like Bradford wants out of Philly.

  22. I'd argue the opposite. Sounds like the agent was so stubborn in negotiations he got his client released from the team he wanted to be on.

But he'll get paid and I'm sure that'll cheer up Josh.

Well that's the point, that's exactly why he's a good agent. He got him out of a deal and he's going to get a big contract somewhere. Lots of buzz he's generating over interest and getting it out there through social media, solid stuff.

  24. The agent isn't the reason teams are interested in him. Norman's play on the field is why teams are calling, and why there is "buzz" on social media. He'll get Josh a nice contract which is his job. But he also somewhat embarrassed Josh in the process.

He's going to get a lot of money. That's what the agent is supposed to do and how he makes his money, off all the deals he makes.
