That just hit me, what if a team only has one of the three qbs rated that high and he gets taken? It'll probably be a draft day trade then.

 

Obviously. Funniest part is that in that 2012 draft, the guys who were taken in the 3rd/4th round (Foles, Cousins, wilson) have put together as many franchise QB type seasons as the 3 guys who were taken in the top 8.

Rumor was they wanted Wentz. If Im the Rams, I want Cleveland to stay at #2. Becuase when QBs go 1-2, one of them fails. And if that #2 QB is going to the Browns, your odds of success skyrocket.

But this is potentially great for the Browns. They can get the 49ers or Eagles or someone to trade up for Goff, still get a solid player, and probably pick up a 2nd and 3rd, or 2nd and future pick

this trade is just awful - you already have your 'some potential, but needs development' QB in keenum. Wentz is not worth all of that when they could have waited on a non-Wentz/Goff QB.

 

Assuming this trade had happened in previous drafts, this is what the picks would have netted them. Im gonna assume future picks are also at the 15th-ish slot. In basically every case, its the chance to remake an entire position (ILB in 2015 and 2014, WR in 2012) and build offensive depth they badly need. If you assume they took BPA or made minor trades instead of what was actually taken...man is it a LOT to give up.

Amazes me how many ILBs go mid-2nd round. Basically every key dude right now is there. And good god at that 2012 possibility. Irvin, swap Wagner for Hill, Jeffrey, and swap Wilson for Brooks and you have an great core for your D, and a WR duo that is unstoppable.
