Sincerely doubt they fire him after not just the extension, but turning down trade offers for him in the offseason.

This past game was his first one with a QB rating of over 100 in 11 games. It's mostly the receivers. Lacy's underperformance has been overrated and the line has been consistently awesome in pass protection.

I think Stafford has jetted past the other two in the past two years. He's looked great this year.

I have no idea what his agent did wrong, but getting him for 5/year made no sense at all. Every year that he's been kept in the slot, he's graded out as the best slot CB in the league. I'm presuming that's back where he is in San Diego.

The whole Norman debacle while using a first round pick to add to a position of strength would have been a fireable offense for any other GM. That and expecting to fix the offensive line by picking up scrpas. His only move there this offseason was re-signing Oher, after the whole unit got embarrassed in the Super Bowl. The d-line has been a flaming sack of shit in the first three games this year too so the secondary can't be protected as much. Totally botched an important off-season while the team had a good thing going.

Uh, Bortles had much simpler reads and far less line calls last year. He absolutely has a lot more pressure because he has wayyy more control of the offense. Which should help in the long run, but, understandable if it's overwhelming amount of info to process at first and that's why he's taking a bit longer in the pocket. I still don't think that's nearly as big an issue as the terrible OL forcing him to rush through his more complicated progessions. When he has had time he hasn't been inefficient.

I do think he needs to play "better" in the sense that I want to see the accuracy i got used to seeing from him last year. I also think he's trying TOO hard not to run, to the point where he's not giving defenses that extra element to defend like he did last year. But he IS playing smarter and has more pressure than anyone on that team (weird to me that you would bother to refute that, hes a third year QB, that alone is huge pressure.)

I think Les Miles would be great in terms of developing our trenches and giving our defense some discipline which is the two things we need most

I mean, they 100% cant cut him...or they hand him $36mil over the next 4 years. But, there are probably a few teams willing to pay him that in comparison to their current coach, especially if it doesnt cost much to trade for him.

But, every time a coach has been traded, its cost a 1st rounder at least...which Im not sure any team would willingly give up.

You really think he has more pressure after a breakout season than Yeldon does right now? We signed his replacement. His replacement is currently on the team with a longer contract. Bortles is under a lot of pressure as well. But the only reason he is continously under pressure is he has continously failed to live up to his draft stock so each year gets worse and worse in that regard. In that way I agree. But in terms of the pressure the team is putting on themselves, it's not Bortles.

Chip Kelly went to the Eagles and then the 49ers. Two somewhat prestigious teams hired that man. Miles has done more than him in college and for the NFL.

Ivory was signed to push the pile because our line doesn't get push. I don't think he affects Yeldon's role because Yeldon is still the better three down back. Guarantee you Ivory is cut in two years, regardless whether it's to make room for a Yeldon extension or a new guy entirely.

While there is pressure on Yeldon to create and produce no matter the circumstances, watch any game. He is getting every yard that is there. The OL pass blocking has gotten a bit worse... the run blocking in particular, though, has zero chemistry right now. We look worse at the line on running plays than the fucking Chargers did last year. Teams are getting away with being super aggressive because we are unable to correctly respond to and punish a team for doing so, any bull rush instantly pushes everybody back 2 yards and the play is over. Trick plays meant to take advantage of that, like counters, delays, and play action don't even have the time to get to the part where it tricks the defense. It's really that simple and was particularly obvious in the Ravens game. Jeremiah Attaochu and Melvin Ingram aren't even good and they terrorized our O line. I mean we have a SERIOUS PROBLEM there that affects everything else including our actually good playmakers.

I think the main divide in our opinion is, you are looking at "pressure" in terms of, outside expectations. I'm looking at pressure in terms of, what the organization itself is expecting out of that player. Bortles had some fun playing backyard football last year, now it got really serious and he has to process a lot more information. That's what I mean by pressure. No other player has to take quite that leap.

That's the exact opposite of how we are looking at it. No one cares about Yeldon on the outside while Bortles is under pressure from fans and outside observers haha.

Thats a nice semantic twist of what i said.. it sounds true but doesnt address my actual point still. What about "Bortles has more pressure because, like many 3rd year QBS, his knowledge of the playbook, signals, and pre snap reads is expected to double" are you not understanding about my point though? I feel like that is self evident.

EDIT: Didn't mean to sound this irritable toward you haha I am just frustrated with our inability to use the talent we have in skill positions, because our roster still doesn't have a backbone in the trenches. After four years. Maybe we got too greedy and should have settled for some more meat and potatoes draft picks, who knows.

I was trying to say that Yeldon is an outside thing. Because people who know what they're talking about know he isn't the problem, but it's an easy scapegoat for casual fans to just say it's the RB when there's 4 out of 5 other guys who are doing a terrible job (and the one good one had a concussion.)

I'll admit I was guilty of this last year by being a Melvin Gordon nonbeliever. It's obvious this year by their new found power running style that he wasn't the problem but many were quick to declare him a bust and I had my suspicions as well. That's outside pressure that doesn't really matter as much.

Probably though. He was given a one year extension through 2017, whats the point of a tiny extension if not to give the rebuild a little more time to see things through. Maybe thats Shad Khan's way of admitting the 2013 draft was a horrrible start and that 2014 seemed like a more appropriate starting point in terms of which rookie comtracts we are or arent extending.

We better draft OL in 2017 like we drafted defense in 2016. Hopefully we get lucky with a few late round picks and hit on an OT.

I hope the Linder at center experiment works, (which requires staying healthier than he has), because if not then we gotta draft one and NAIL that pick. Weve picked up stunts and interior blitzes better with him in the lineup and his fundamentals are always good, but right now he seems to lose ground off the snap because he's not used to snapping the ball and immediately exploding into a blocker. Which hurts our running game.....

One silver lining is that Chris Reed did good in the Baltimore game and looks better than Joeckel did at left guard. We need to get the Pillsbury Jokeboy off the damn field as soon as Beachum is cleared, get a few healthy weeks from him and Linder, and then see where we are at.
