Idk if Joe Berger is better than John Sullivan, phil loadholt might be better than Andre smith. Alex Boone is old and might be deteriorating faster than expected and I don't even know who plays the other guard spot. That's a lot of change. Fusco and Khalil are the main constants and Khalil isn't that good.

He's probably losing some ability with his age, but I read somewhere that his o-line is averaging like six inches until a defender makes contact with him.

    Things I need to see:

    1) put Myles Jack on the damn field. We give up so many plays because Paul Poz and Dan Skuta are too slow to get there. The coverage broke down on a drag route and it ended with Poz chasing one of the Chargers' fastest receivers 50 yards to the end zone. Why the fuck did that happen when we have a star athlete LB who RUNS A 4.4 on the fucking bench.

reading on jaguars.com, they're like "oh we didn't want to put Myles Jack in over Telvin Smith because Smith is playing too well to take off the field" (which has never NOT been true). How is it not OBVIOUS that Jack is your second LB in sub packages? I've been saying Smith at WILL and Jack at MIKE in the nickel since we drafted him. You don't get a LB who is crazy good at coverage and then not use that on third down against elite QBs like Rivers and Rodgers.

    2) For some reason Davon House always has good coverage but never actually deflects the ball. You cant just softly put your hand in the way and expect an NFL receiver with strong ass hands not to still catch it. I feel like he constantly gives up catches and TDs like that. Pimp slap that ball the fuck out of there, be confident, be tough, or get off the field. We can't suddenly be this bad at pass defense when Amukamara tweaks a hamstring.

    3) If Jonathan Cyprien still can't wrap up he's got to go. HIs number one job is to TACKLE! who cares how you read the play and how fast you got there if the guy breaks your tackle and still gets the first down? You were drafted at the top of the second round as a strong safety and I'd rate your madden tackling about a 68. Fuck that. Weak safety more like. You don't just dive at people and drag them down with one hand, you're not Brian Dawkins.

    4) Robinson's ball skills get better and better the more he is targeted. He really started to open up in the fourth quarter of both games but that's way too fucking late. We seem to be shying away from the most electrifying component of our offense. Verrett is extremely good and constantly makes up for his lack of size at 5'9" but I find it hard to believe, that if we threw 3 jump balls to ARob in the first quarter he would have stopped all of them. Any early big play for momentum would have helped that game not get out of fucking control.

    5) sorry for ever saying Jermey Parnell had potential in this offense. Now that I know our right tackle is really bad at both run blocking and pass blocking, and now that Kelvin Beachum is likely out for an extended period of time, man. I just dont know if Gus Bradley is going to overcome this regime's failure so far to draft a good offensive tackle.

Bradley is done, Josh McDaniels is our new coach, Roderick Johnson is our draft pick, and every LSU player goes to a team I dislike. Alright guys, see you in a year.

also, we don't know what the fuck to call against any all-out blitz which is stupid. We keep throwing sideline screens that are easy for the CB to blow up instead of taking advantage of the middle of the field which is usually EMPTY on an all out blitz.

Seriously, I'm gonna run out on the fucking field if I go to a game and they do that shit.

they need to erase that run/pass option playcall from the playbook

I'm guessing at these numbers havent actually counted but I think we've probably called that shit 8 times and 7 of them it's been HORRIBLE (and the 8th gained like, 7 yards from Marqise Lee)

also what the fuck is with Bortles throwing behind Lee. That's 2 of his 3 interceptions so far because he can't lead him over the middle and isn't used to having a fast receiver I guess. He's thrown behind him on a couple non-INTs as well.

that deep INT was the only INT that was actually a poor read. I'm not sure why he targeted Greene over the seam on a Cover 4, when Hurns was the one that had outside/sideline fade leverage on an inside-looking secondary.

EDIT: add this to the list, our run blocking is getting no push. Yeldon is running great and still just getting annihilated. That stat about Adrian Peterson only getting 6 inches before contact on average definitely seems to be true for us as well. Are we just, lacking strong guys up front, or are we trying to do too much by being both a zone and a gap running team or what?

I've never been in the "Bradford is good" camp, but if he does succeed in Minnesota, would it be a worthy argument to say that Bradford had never had any real weapons around him in STL/PHI and having weapons is helping show why he was a #1 overall pick a bit better?

I keep thinking about that. I think about the situation he was drafted in and the situation he entered in Philadelphia when they had basically jettisoned all of his offensive weapons, and that maybe, just maybe, Minnesota IS causing him to play better.

Not that it makes him a top 10 quarterback or anything of course haha.

one ray of positivity: been paying close attention to Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue. it appears we at least finally have pass rushers. They combined for 3 sacks and a forced fumble on Rivers, the ONLY good thing about that game. Plus several other "pressures" but "pressures" don't matter to Philip Rivers he completes amazing throws while "pressured" all of every game

  21. So Carolina made a shit ton of mistakes yesterday and made that game way harder than it needed to be. But god damn did Cam throw some unreal passes. Some of the best I've ever seen him throw.

All I can say about the Texans showing: Brock needs to do better, and the secondary needs to do better.

Brock was getting hit a lot. Granted, it's with Duane Brown out, but let's face it: We need to learn to do okay without Duane Brown sometimes. This was also with the Chiefs having Justin Houston out. If we want to stand a chance against teams like the Broncos, our line needs to block better and Brock needs to learn how to take less hits and get rid of the ball sometimes. He doesn't seem to like to throw it away...it seems like he's always thinking either completion or sack, and he's gotta work on that or else it'll be a long season with the defenses we face.

As far as our secondary goes, Kelce feasted on us. Outside of that """"incompletion"""" he was destroying our safeties and linebackers, and honestly Jeremy Maclin was doing work on our secondary too. We just lucked out that he and Alex Smith had the rhythm of a white family singing Happy Birthday. How we performed won't work against other #1 receivers we face this year (Edelman, Hilton, Diggs, Green, Thomas, need I go on?). If we want to keep our defense performing at a high level, that's gonna require better coverage on key players.

Last note: Burn our special teams. Pour gasoline on them and light a match. Unacceptable play from everyone except MAYBE Lechler.
