Works for me. I just assumed we could find another punter on the street after Nortman left but apparently it's not that easy, lol.

 

thanks for that. he's better than the guy we spent a third round pick on (instead of Russell Wilson... who has at least on-the-field become one of my top 10 favorite players in the league. I've grown pretty attached to Blake as the face of the franchise but Wilson is one of few QBs I wouldn't mind swapping him out with.)

 

Nortman was just too inconsistent for the money he wanted.

 

I thought Wright was supposed to be the opposite of a project? Wasn't he projected as a Borland type: elite instincts and ability to be a plug-and-play backer, but lacking the athleticism to be a great one?

 

So that Bengals game was highly frustrating to watch the starters... bunch of "almost, but no cigar" drives, including an 80 yard march down the field that ended with 2 penalties on 3rd and goal from the 1 and a field goal... and TJ Yeldon had a fumble and an incomplete/out of bounds pass called that ended two drives that I thought both easily could have been called the other way. I want to see more execution and a much cleaner game playing against an excellent, but still beatable and not quite elite team in the Bengals. We are averaging 12 penalties a game this preseason, that needs to fucking stop.

But man, Myles Jack was in on a ton of plays when they put him in. Tackle after tackle after tackle. Had a lot to do with their late comeback. His athleticism is like, he can be a little undisciplined and play a little wild and still find ways to loop back to the ballcarrier before he gets too far. And you're seeing both the smooth hips in coverage and the ability to shed blocks, he looks undersized but he does not play like it. Can't wait to see him and Telvin Smith in the Nickel formation. They are both so versatile.

Also Kelvin Beachum looked great in his first action. He is our new left tackle, Luke Joeckel failed MISERABLY to even try to block Geno Atkins from Left Guard the whole game, still looks like a bust, water is wet, etc. I counted 4 different times that Atkins pancaked HIM (though Bortles responded well when pressured). Joeckel kept trying to put his hands on the outside of his arms and just could not understand why he was losing leverage every time, he still has no idea what to do with his hands a la Ricky Bobby. I'm not gonna be surprised if he bottoms out on PFF's guard rankings and gets a scathing article about how bad he was at both guard and tackle.

 

Hey, guy, we're all just trying to have a fun time here without bringing up depressing hypotheticals.

Size, athleticism, the works. I suppose I should say that he's nothing definitive. However, he's been showing glimpses of being able to handle the step up to the NFL. Like everyone has said, he's such a low risk play at the end of the 7th though.

 

I can't wait to see draft grades on Washington safety Budda Baker next year. I'm obviously a Washington fan but just so curious what the general consensus ends up being on him.

Seen a ton of comps to Honey Badger which I can see. Eagles won't have a need at safety but I'd still love to draft him.

 

Bengals finally cut Brandon Tate. Never did much but also didn't see the field much at all last year. Thought he would have a bigger role since every receiver not named AJ Green is either bad or a rookie. Alex Erickson's been a nice surprise in preseason, though.

Jaylen Watkins is the top rated safety this preseason, loved that guy in the draft. Knew he would be a better safety than corner.

 

He'll be a backup for the Eagles too. Should get a decent amount of rotational time in though.

 

I'd be surprised if he doesn't develop into a decent two-down ILB. But, then again, I said the same thing about Shayne Skov, a guy who I was much higher on and who had considerably better size than the Scoob. Regardless, hard-nosed overachievers should be the guys Cleveland goes after imo.

 

Alright, well you said "we" when talking about the Panthers and seemed like you kept a close eye on the bengals and their roster moves so you can't blame me lol there was a guy like that on ap, my bad
