Not saying it's on Bosa per se, the Chargers are totally in the wrong, but a football career is so fragile that sometimes even some of the best players have to accept a poorly dealt hand on occasion and turn it into gold by letting their play do the talking. Bosa is probably still going to make the same money and still get a mega deal from a different team in a few years if he accepts their contract today.

As it stands, the Chargers want offset language attached to Bosa’s fully-guaranteed deal, and they want to defer a large chunk of his signing bonus into March 2017. Bosa wants either no offset language or full payment of the bonus in 2016.

The Ladarius Green thing is a perfect example of why this matters. Bosa is about to put his body on the line...and the Chargers want to minimize risk that, say he suffers 2-3 concussions and cant play after year 1, that they could try and recover that signing bonus money. Money that is rightfully his, and that he believes should be in his pocket the day he signs.

 

If Bosa caves, other picks will be expected to do the same in the future because of the precedence he sets. I don't agree with your previous post either, there is CERTAINLY a hefty risk of injury and, rare or not, he should get the money he earned by reaching that high draft position. San Diego is putting Bosa in this uncomfortable position in a sport with very comparatively high risk of injury and they shouldn't get the satisfaction of Bosa giving in. Likewise, other teams shouldn't have the option to comfortably do what San Diego is trying to do because "Well the Chargers did it with Bosa so why should we protect our rookies?"

If I'm Bosa, I don't take a contract no matter what at this point and I watch the Chargers waste the #3 pick over it, and I go to a better team willing to give the most basic of provisions.

Fair enough guys I guess I wasn't seeing the full principle behind his holdout.

 

I do. Bortles has lost to Rivers twice despite having a solid game both times. And we play them this year week 2. Would much prefer a game with no Bosa.

 

It's like San Diego wants their fans to hate them so they get forced out of town. I honestly hope Bosa sits out the year.

 

This Ladarius Green situation isn't good. There's pretty much no worthwhile depth outside of Jesse James...

 

So do local market preseason games air on local TV, or do you only get to see one or two? I always forget.

I need to see some Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack and Dante Fowler.

 

Which, unfortunately, probably costs Bosa easily $10mil if not more. Cause the odds he goes in the top 10 next year arent great. Just going from #3 to #9 costs him $10mil. Going to mid-round costs him $15mil.

So, thats what makes it doubly a dick move by San Diego. You're squeezing a guy unnecessarily AND he has to weigh money now against future risks...

Depends on your local market. But, most games should be aired within like, 5-6 TV markets of the city.

It should be shown in both markets. That's how it's always been for me.
