The argument that a star player who leaves owes his former organization nothing is so, beyond idiotic.

Right. The Celtics plan was basically collect picks, then a. get Durant or b. decade long rebuild. The vast majority of fans in Boston currently have their expectations at "not gonna get swept by the Cavs" and are otherwise just happy to be relevant midway through the backup plan.

You can hate on Ainge for benefitting from an extremely lopsided deal to set this situation up, but your average Celtics fan is more or less completely content with his post KG/Pierce roster management. And pumped on GH for being a marquee free agent, not for thinking he's going to win a championship here.

From fans or Boston Media? Because Boston media i'll make no excuse for lol. CSNNE posted a story where the lead was literally "A guy no one has heard of, who work for a site no one has heard of says the Celtics are getting Haywayrd." It was gross

I think people are forgetting that LeBron James Jr will be going to play at St. Vincent-St. Mary here in two years, where LeBron will probably stay pretty active in following as he can. (Much easier if he plays in Cleveland.)

Cavs offseason hasn't really begun because they'll be looking at deals that work with their cap, which is typically later in the process. I still expect some moves to happen, but they're still the best team in the East.

Can someone explain the NBA cap to me. The Celtics don't have cap space to sign hayward? But the warriors have the space to get durrant?

    I'm confused.

And the blazers are the team the most over the cap? What?

You can go over the cap to resign your own players but not others.

And "your players" count as players you signed and then decided to resign right? Or no. Like the warriors resigning Durant counts as their player or no?

Durant counts against the warriors cap. If a team owns the players rights they can go over their cap. If you don't own a players rights than you have to get rid of salary to sign someone.

Durant was on the warriors last season, therefore until or unless he signs with another team.. they own his rights.

That's too much, please no. I want porter.

Also someone post the whole list.

The NBA Salary Cap is the most confusing of them all. Because then you get Mid Level Exceptions, and then Luxary Tax Mid Levels, and then Stretch Provisions. It's just madness.

Ehhhh that Crabbe contract does not help. Neither does Evan Turner.

They have the tax payer MLE, I believe.

And you can sign guys to minimum contracts even if you are over the cap.

  22. Whatjuliansaid

News on once the clouds are gone. Prestigious

They can use their exception to sign someone, which is extremely limited and probably pointless so they likely won't. If a team is over the cap they generally can sign a vet minimum or they may have a mle or another exception to sign someone.

    NBA 2017 Cap Tracker

Is there any number i should focus on that will truly tell me what a team can and cant do..or since there are so many provisions/exceptions, not really?
