It would be McDavid's, if he didn't break his collarbone.

you can't give it to anyone but Panarin if he finishes in the top 10 in scoring

Andrew Ladd would finish top 10 scoring if he was on a line with Patrick Kane.

If Philly makes the playoffs I would give it to Scott. He's one of the best defense men in the NHL this year. He also is paired with bums on the blue line.

I've been a Panthers fan since I was young, mostly because Luongo is my favorite goalie, so I'm glad they are doing the playoffs this year. Atlantic division champions is a nice bonus too! :-)

Sure you can, McDavid has objectively done more with less around him. Panarin's success could just as easily be a product Kane's success, and even WITH being on a line with the leading scorer in the NHL he's still not producing as well as McDavid. McDavid's collarbone injury shouldn't matter, the Calder is not a durability award, and if you don't penalize him for that injury he's been the best rookie in the league and a top 5 player in the league overall.

Between Panarin and Gostisbehere for me. I'd probably have Eichel third behind them. McDavid has just missed too many games, imo.

I'm curious where you see this magical cap space appearing then.

This is a name not getting mentioned enough. Presumably because he is a defenseman, and his last name isn't Eichel or McDavid. I think he is a longshot, but should definitely be in the discussion.

I'm a bit surprised but nevertheless proud that @Chris Yates is rooting for the Hawks per his custom title.

His game changing dynamic is through the roof. We can talk about advanced stats all day, but all you have to do is just watch this guy. You know when he's on the ice, he just makes shit happen.

GhostBear is on like a 20-22 goal/rougly 65 point pace if he played all 82. You can't deny how impressive that is. McDavid shouldn't be docked for the injury, he's been absolutely dynamic and done so playing with a tirefire surrounding him.

With my homer glasses off, Eichel should be in any top 5 rookie discussion, but not top 3. He had a big lull midseason, but has been on fire since the Christmas break or thereabouts.

Bickell recalled, me thinks the Anisthetist is concussed

Without ghost there's no way the flyers even have a chance at the playoffs.

Ghost or McDavid for me, with Ghost getting the edge I think. Sorta agree with the Panarin's success could be exclusively attributed to Kane's success argument, but I also haven't seen him play all that often to have a fair debate about him.

  23. I think the Kane/Panarin connection is two-way, but only one gets mentioned. Kane is doing amazing, but I would assume that's at least in part because of Panarin (I haven't looked at the data though). Seems like that should count for something.

  24. Yup. Kane's career average is roughly 1 PPG. This year, he'll finish around 1.3 or so. He's exceeding his highest point total in a season by 20 points. Panarin has definitely helped Kane.

As a Flyers fan, I'd like to see Ghost get it but taking my blinders off it probably should be Panarin.

If the Flyers make the playoffs Ghost probably holds the best narrative of the ROY candidates for whatever that is worth
