Yeah you are right, market size doesn't matter much for most players, with the exception of the few who are more interested in nightlife/celebrity. I think the new "big markets" are actually "big market players"- top players joining forces to win a ring. Having said that it still makes me happy that the blazers found success without Lillard calling up 2 of the top 10 players in the league and signing together to win. They seem to have put their team together through finding good, somewhat cost effective pieces that work well together, which I respect a lot more.

This reminds me of how excited I am for the Jailblazers 30 For 30.

@Sal Paradise agreed on the players part. I think the next CBA deal will be interesting. I am wondering how much the leverage changes when the players opt out.

@TheWater(s) are they actually making that now? I thought Bill Simmons said something a few years ago about how they could not get certain clearances for that project. I might be confusing it with a different one, I can't remember.

@Michael Schmidt @Whatjuliansaid just googled it and Damon did say that but ESPN said they're not doing it and it's not a 30 For 30. Apparently it's HBO. Wouldn't be surprised if Bill Simmons had his hand in it.

That is terrific. It's a shame Bill won't be a part of it because I think he said something along the lines of he came up with the idea of doing 30 for 30s because of the Jailblazers.

Edit: Thanks @TheWater(s) . Forget he first part of my comment.

What NBA podcasts are the best? I subscribed to JJ's because of this thread and already listen to Bill's and my personal favorite is Jalen & Jacoby but if there's any good shit I'm missing please recommend!

I like the Vertical with Woj and Chris Mannix as well. They each do their own podcast. Woj did a good episode with the player's association head, if you are interested in the business part of the league.

I 2nd Lowe. He actually interviewed Heinke like a week or 2 before he stepped down. I thought it was really interesting then and kinda want to revisit it now that he's gone.

The podcast was posted two days ago if anyone wants to listen to it, no idea when it was taped. I usually just assume its in real time but it was probably when the sixers came here a few weeks ago I guess.

I was surprised it took this long for Hinkie to step down, quite frankly. Right or wrong, ownership completely undermined his role with the team bringing in Colangelo. The MCW trade was actually really smart, but I felt he should have been more aggressive in his roster construction. Bringing in undervalued vets to mix in with the young prospects would have at least resembled some sense of competitiveness. To completely punt for three years and never really show a sense of urgency is pretty mind-boggling to me.

Oh, your right! I fell behind on my Lowe post and just assumed that one was from a couple weeks ago.

They did pretty well in the Pitino era, yeah. Those absolutely abysmal seasons before we got the Big 3 not so much. But we weren't even mediocre then.

I mean, the worst of the worst for the Celtics was the beginning of the Doc era wasn't it? Though, screw Rick Pitino still haha

i think the use of flashseats this year has pissed off the majority of the wolves fan base. its pretty sad looking at the crowd and half the place is empty

  20. I had a good time at the Celtics game last night but, boy, did they play poorly. Scary to see that this late in the year when you're still fighting for post season positioning.

I am mixed on Flashseats. I like it as a consumer from the standpoint that I can throw bids at people's tickets for what I am willing to pay for them. They can accept my offer or decline it. I have gone to a lot of Cavs games the last few seasons for super cheap in good sections. I do like how the tickets are on the app and you don't have to print anything and you can easily send people their tickets. IDK, I use it as an option with Seatgeek, StubHub, and other sources.
