Even if you were looking for a relationship, suggesting someone she barely knows do something with her kid is a major red flag. Unless that was just her way of letting you know she has a kid and she didn't mean to include you. But if she did, I'd nope immediately out of that situation

I think the babysitting thing wasn't explicit but implied. She just kept saying how she has nobody to watch her kid and I was like "fuck if this goes further that is probably going to be me and I don't want to do that at all"

But she also suggested i do an outdoor movie night thing with her and her kid which made me a little weirded out.

 

I truly hate text communication as icebreaker for meeting people. I find it inherently awkward. It also loses my attention easily. Keeping up a text conversation with someone I met online feels like work to me after awhile even if we are vibing. It makes dating sites impossible for me.

 

It's fucking stupid and I hate it. The modern dating era blows.

We have all become too comfortable with technology and convenience.

 

Most of my conversations with my matches end after like a few interactions. Usually I just get bored and want to do something else for awhile and I come back and they're not responding anymore lol

The longest and most involved Tinder conversation I ever had was with a girl I matched with that used to be a regular AP.Net poster too back in the day and we knew eachother's usernames, and we connected over that, and chatted for a few days straight, but we just ended up being friends.

I have had one single date from Tinder the entire time I have been using it and it didn't work out.

My problem with dating sites and apps is I refuse to continuously pay to play so to speak. It sucks that I have to pay just for the chance to be seen. And then when nothing comes from it I feel like I just threw away money and all I got was low self esteem in return.

 

I miss old school Ok Cupid before that app got ruined. Used to have a lot more freedom to search people in your area with your very specific preferences. Felt more like a dating social media site, and now it has just become like Tinder with pay wall bullshit.

 

I do like Feeld. There is definitely more my type on there, but there isn't that many people on there. Most other people on there are like 20 or 30 miles away. Very little in my immediate radius.

 

I enjoyed talking to people on the apps during the short period I was single circa 2019 or so, but I also wasn't relying on it for years or anything

 

Hinge is the best one and I’ve had luck on there.

 

Will second that Hinge feels like the only one worth the time and effort for me. I feel like it’s the only one that shows me people I’d actually be interested in.

 

I tried Hinge. Not really my vibe. Lot of girls on there seem like they're trying too hard. Kinda a turn off for me. Lots of very professional looking pictures. Very attractive people but not really my type so far. Same vibe i got off of Bumble.

Ok I feel like Hinge gets a bit better the longer you use it as it learns your type. It figured out who I like pretty quickly actually.

I like: the algorithm that learns your type and tailors who shows up on your feed, and that there is no paywall to see who likes you

I don't like: that they have one of the most restrictive free likes per day limits out of any apps I have ever used

 

yep to all of those. the small amount of free likes a day is truly insane.

 

Yeah my Hinge feed went from straight laced skinny blonde Christian girls wearing cowboy boots last night to thick nerdy queer girls with tattoos and piercings literally the next day. I am impressed.

 

When I was on a dating site the music on my profile became the biggest indicator, weirdly. I had a Phoebe bridgers song before she really blew up (bc I have hipster cred obviously) but every guy who opened with a line about also being a Phoebe fan was the absolute wooooorst in the end omg
