    Yep.

  3. Ty Lawson is definitely not a top level point guard.

Top level point guard is not what I said.

Top level playmaking point guard is what I said.

    And that is not arguable.

Guy was third in the league JUST LAST YEAR in assists a game, behind only Chris Paul and John Wall.

The year before, he was SECOND in the league in assists a game, only trailing Chris Paul.

There is literally no arguing that Ty Lawson was a top notch playmaking point before moving on to Houston. It's literal fact.

  5. Ok, I'll bite, is this something Houston fans really think @GreatBeardRecs? There's a budding like if only we didn't have Harden but had Ty Lawson running the offense we'd be good narrative? Ty Lawson was a mediocre point guard in Denver playing for a meh team and putting up decent assist numbers. I love watching Houston be bad and would jump on any chance to pile on Harden. He's not the reason Ty Lawson sucks.

I surely hope you're not putting those words in my mouth.

I merely said Harden's style of play kills any semblance of once credible players, and Ty Lawson is perhaps the most glaring example of this.

  7. So who does Lawson blame for his Indiana numbers? Paul George?

Compare his per36 numbers between Houston and Indiana.

His numbers in Indiana were in line with his career numbers per 36.

    In Houston, they were not.

Nothing affected his numbers in Indiana other than the minutes he was getting.

His 8.7 assists per36 in Indiana are right on par with his career assists per 36 numbers. Hence, the only thing that affected his play was the minutes he was getting.

It most definitely does. The only thing different is the scoring numbers, which are irrelevant to this conversation. Haha.

  13. Your argument being dependent completely on assists is a weird one. Oh. Well.

Not exactly. His per 36 minutes in Indiana and Houston goes to show that in Indiana, he was still making plays like he did in Denver when given the minutes, and shows that when he was in Houston, he was almost useless.

  15. Ty Lawson is the greatest PG ever

Don't let the dookie tell you otherwise

Basically the whole point is that he was a top notch playmaker in Denver, RIGHT BEFORE COMING TO HOUSTON, was a lost cause in the Houston offense, and then was back to being a top notch playmaker again when he went to Indiana if you average his numbers out to 36 minutes a game.

If you don't think he would have gotten close to 9 assists a game in Indiana if he played 36 minutes a game like he did as a starter in Denver, I don't know what to tell.

I can tell you, for certain, that if he played 36 minutes a game in the Rockets offense, he wouldn't have gotten close.

Lawson has been and still is a top notch playmaker, whether you admit it or not.

  17. If that's what you think, well, ok. Totally trade Harden! Maybe trade him for Rubio straight up. he's a really great playmaking point guard. I think what the numbers show show he has a better unit around him during the minutes he does play, that Houston should never have tried to put him into the starting line-up to begin with, but that when he does play, he's still a pretty mediocre basketball player even for Indiana. I would love to destroy Harden on this one, but Lawson's just a meh player to begin with. James Harden didn't ruin a great player in this case. And I'd love to say he did.

I'm not saying the guy is great, or even a top 5 point guard. Don't get it twisted.

I'm merely saying it's hard to argue that he is not a top notch playmaker when he's anywhere but Houston. Very hard.

Ty Lawson and greatest in the same sentence got me fucked up.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe getting 8.8 and 9.2 assists a game on a mediocre squad where the best scorer on your team other than yourself is Aaron Afflalo with 14 a game one year and Wilson Chandler with 13 a game the next year is a pretty easy task for an average playmaker.

Or maybe I'm the only one who has watched basketball longer than this year and there's a recency bias going on. Shrug.

  23. TIL: In 2013 Kendall Marshall averaged 8.8 assists a game for the Lakers.

Don't get me wrong, I love passing and players who get a lot of assists but there's not many players that do it anymore and their teams still win plenty... That theory is very out there.
