Kidding, I actually love Michigan. Spent several days near Sleeping Bear Dunes with my family last summer and was blown away by how nice it is. Have yet to make it to UP but I'd love to go this summer.

There is one good thing I will say about where I am in Indiana: it's only 90 minutes from Chicago. That's seriously the only even remotely redemptive quality this place has. Also our mayor is pretty cool

 

Sleeping Bear Dunes is my stomping grounds. Like half an hour away from where I grew up.

Nice! You're in Grand Rapids now right? I've been to Grand Rapids one time and it was for a Japandroids show at Pyramid Scheme like three months before Celebration Rock came out and fucking nobody was there haha

 

Yeah, I live in GR, but my wife and I still make it up north pretty often. Hard not to want to be up there in the summer.

I must confess I didn't know about Japandroids before Celebration Rock. That sounds like a good time though. The music scene here seems to be getting better. New venue in town that's hosting a JEW show on Sunday.

Re: Indiana. I'm sure it's not all bad. But fuck, I lived in the Chicago area for a year or so after I finished college, and driving through Indiana to get home was fucking miserable. Plus, we drove by Gary, which is the worst smelling location I have experienced on this planet.

 

The Foos are pretty boring these days but I stand by the self titled being a very underrated record

 

Nice! I'm seeing JEW in Bloomington in a few weeks and it's at a like 400-cap venue so that's pretty sweet. No Indiana is pretty much all bad in my experience. Bloomington is a cool college town and that's it.

Yeah I remember you used to live in Chicago now you mention it. The trick to driving through Gary/Hammond is to do it at night when you can't see the ugliness and it doesn't usually smell quite as bad

Indianapolis is a pretty awesome city. I go there often to train people at our sister warehouse.

Southern Indiana is a terrible place tho lol

NC is great been here six months and despise an enormous amount of mostly self induced stress, I love it. Probably not my final destination but I'll definitely be here a little bit haha.

The South would be 1000 percent more bearable is the majority of the landscape wasn't shit. How do you think Oregon puts up with all those Nazis? Mountains. Nazis and KMart Escapism doesn't have the same appeal. Though it's a fucking great pop punk song title.
