My only issue with the album is how the drums sound, but yeah 'No Fun' is a banger.

My friend had the same complaint.

I have to think that was partially because of Skrillex. I feel like we got a taste of what the album would have sounded like with the original mix of "Nimble Bastard" and what it ended up sounding like with the new mix, with guitars pushed back and drums sounding like they have some effects put on them.

Either way, still a pretty bland album. I feel like they ran out of ideas years ago and can't come up with many new ones.

  8. I agree. There are some good songs but overall it's fairly bland and forgettable.

fun thing about Make No Sound is Brandon's on bass and a couple of them switched instruments, apparently.

yeah, I actually interviewed Mike last month and he told me some other cool stuff.

Here's what he said about that one:

That song was actually just an improvisation. Brandon’s playing bass on that one, and Ben’s playing drums, I was on guitar and it was just like…everybody switched up instruments and we got a really cool improvisation out of it. So we included it on the album to change things up a little bit.

I can agree with that. It's my second favorite from them. Personally, I prefer "Crow Left of the Murder" Incubus more than anything else.

my preferred incubus is light grenades (minus "love hurts") so i know what i get out of this record prob won't mirror anyone else's experience with it

(wish they had an album full of "rogues"es)

The bridge of "Undefeated" sounds like something you'd hear in a Christian song to me. Anyone else?

I am surprised by enjoyment upon my first two listens. I don't love everything that is here but there is some really solid stuff.

Agree. I mean, I don't exactly expect amazing albums out of them anymore, but this one has more than a few songs that definitely hold my attention, AND that I'll see myself coming back to every now and then.

I'm swinging to the other side of the pendulum here, this album is boring as sin. Reminds me of Coheed and Cambria's latest - a few songs I dig because I still love the band, but nowhere near the caliber of musicianship or songwriting that I expect or that this band is capable of.

Incubus really seemed to be heading in another direction when they added Ben Kenney and released ACLOTM, but they've completely treaded water creatively ever since and this album offers absolutely nothing new.

While I'm at it, "Make No Sound In The Digital Forest" shouldn't even be an album track. I don't care that Brandon played bass or Ben played drums, it sounds like a weak jam session from a bunch of guys who clearly don't know how to play the instruments they're trying out. I don't even play bass, and I can play bass significantly better than that.

I want to be like "I waited 6 years for this!?!", but I didn't, and now I remember why.

Why are there 3 sets of quotation marks!? """alternative pop rock"""

Also, I don't know how any one can complain about metaphors after writing this: "it still sounds like a cover band playing notes based on a description of an Incubus song they found on the back of a candy wrapper."
