I think I'll be able to make it to Old Trafford this fall, which will obviously be a dream come true.

Gonna miss Monaco - BVB tomorrow cause I have a date. Gonna have to check the score whenever I go toilet I suspect...

  4. Hoping to go to one of the Spurs games this summer. Most likely in Orlando against PSG.

I'm gonna hold off seeing them in England until the new stadium is open since I couldn't make it to WHL.

  5. I also want to go see Orlando City v Atlanta in July. It's suppose to be the first game played in Atlanta's new stadium.

I should be back on the east coast before then.

Jealous. Think I may make that my next big excursion, hopefully going back to Celtic when I go back to Scotland in July, even if its just for a tour.

Bring her to a place that'll low-key have the match on

In terms of attending games, I used to attend as many Arsenal games as I could but since 2012 I've cut back. Now I only attend maybe 10 a season in the league and a few in other competitions when I can. Depends on availability and the like, but myself and a friend know often use the season ticket exchange to get tickets.

I considered it haha. We're getting food and then going to play pool, so nothing too major, trying to keep it casual. Thinking the latter may have the game on...

Hope you're taking them to a Chili's, y'all have Chili's in the UK, right?

I hope to be back in Europe again sooner rather than later, and I'd love to attend Swansea-Arsenal. Love watching Alexis play in person.

Nope, as far as I know anyway, I've never seen one or heard of anyone here eating there.

Genuine question: do you guys in the US have the possibility to attend some minor league games in your area or are there just no games whatsoever? And if so why or why not do you visit those games?

I think the closest USL team to me is Nashville (2.5 hours away). Closest MLS is Atlanta (3). Closest NWSL is that one that just moved to NC, and that's like 6ish hours.

Tennessee only has a women's team. Admittedly haven't been to one, but I live quite far from campus.

Oh. Chattanooga has a USL team. 90 minutes away.

Knoxville had an even lower league team for like two years. Not sure if we still do. Only went to one game. It was basically a summer rec league for college players.

Chattanooga is in the NPSL, also have a partnership with Wolfsburg

Wow these are really some serious distances. And there is really no other team in your area?

TBH keeping all the lower leagues straight with all the teams bouncing up and down and whatnot makes me not try haha

Nope. I'm in a huge University city, so we have one of the largest stadiums in the world for our college football team (I think it's #7 in the world, at one point it was #3). All the nearby pro teams in any sport are Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, or Cincinnati depending on the direction. At one point, the closest top tier soccer club to me was six hours away in Columbus.

Wow. This is one thing that needs to change in the US in my opinion. Here we have a football team in almost every village. So everybody has a local team to support and then usually also a Buli team for the ones not living in a city with one. So everyone has a sense of grassroots football and everything that comes with it. I think this is one of the major differences when comparing the US and Europe.

  21. Going to get to Goodison before they destroy the old lady but I've got a few years before that at least. Near me there's just the Revolution who I refuse to support because they are owned by the Krafts who are evil and don't care about the team and make them play in their awful football stadium

It's getting way better at an astronomical rate. The 2010/2011 World Cups were huge for the game over here. 2014/2015 solidified it. MLS is averaging better attendance than i think NBA and NHL now.

One thing in the states is we're pretty accustomed to supporting teams hours away. I was lucky to be born in a place with an NFL, NHL, and eventually an MLB team. But we're also accustomed to way larger of a university sports complex.

I think ticket prices, plus the growth of the game/league has something to do with this. I haven't kept up with the NHL as often as I do with MLS or the NBA these days, but I think its in a bit of a decline

Agreed. I also think it's a shifting population demographic with the increase of the Hispanic population.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I live pretty near Bristol Rovers, but I've just no inclination to go watch them. I have absolutely no connection to them or anyone else in League One.

I've seen Sheffield Wednesday play a few times (despite being a Newcastle fan), because my friend would invite me to games, but I don't really see the point in going to watch two teams I have nothing to do with.

Bit of a theme actually, if someone invites me to a game, I go. That's how I ended up seeing Spurs and Chelsea at Wembley, 5 years ago, in an FA Cup semi. Weirdly, I think that same fixture is happening again this weekend.
