You absolutely killed it once again. Do you write your own stuff too out of interest? Would buy an EP straight away.

    I'm tired.

For the next comp I really think it should be either Taking Back Sunday or Alkaline Trio. I see these two suggested every month, let's feed the people.

  12. still jammin this new comp! everyone rules on it. i wish i could have done the songs i originally picked! grr.

  13. Taking Back Sunday and Alkaline Trio definitely need to happen

  14. If there aren't any vocals on the last track, does that mean that in a way my track was the closer again? Dang it, Brad!

I did a cover of Great Romances of the 20th Century fairly recently, but I've been debating whether I want to do more TBS and make them one of my monthly artists or not. Kind of a dumb thought: if I'm going to be doing three Brand New songs, I should do three Taking Back Sunday songs as well. Because of ancient history.

I still haven't figured out how to play all of Mackey Sasser and Steve Balboni Ride Again. Dang, these titles are long.

    1. @alexmelton - This is insanely good; better than most Punk Goes Pop songs I've heard. Your version sounds a lot like The Dangerous Summer's style.
    2. @redwing91007 - Love the surf rock vibe. This cover makes me feel very happy.
    3. @Damien Davies - Are you secretly Robert Smith, because this is amazing. I love the guitar tone.
    4. @vidiviciveni - Fun cover! I like how soulful you made it. You sound a lot like Joe Jonas, which is sick.
    5. @Jose - You did the song justice for sure. I like how soothing your version is.
    6. @manoverboard365 - I've listened to this one a lot. You really owned the song and it's great. So much passion! I especially like the guitar solo.
    7. @ricklightning - I really like the combination of your guitar tone and your low vocals. I'm going to have to check out more Angel Olsen because your version is really enjoyable.
    8. @thesoftskeleton - Your contributions are always among my favorites. I've listened to this one quite a bit. I really love the piano. Such a beautiful cover.
    9. @Jdaniels - Thank you for the nostalgia! I really like your take on it; your vocal style adds an interesting flavor to it.
    10. @vidiviciveni - Love it. Great guitar playing, great vocals, strong falsetto. Great choice to have it fade out. The "what the fuck" part sounded a lot like Justin Pierre and made me laugh quite hard. You killed it.
    12. @JakeRabin and @elemenohpe - SO SICK. This is a really, really fun cover. I'm psyched The Donnas got some love.
    13. @TedSchmosby - You always make your covers sound so personal, which is awesome. My favorite parts are the electric guitar harmony in the pre-chorus and the ending; you really captured the triumphant feeling of the ending.
    14. @vidiviciveni - Your vocals are on point! I'm not familiar with the original, but this is a great performance. This is one of my favorites on the comp.
    15. @Jdaniels - I love me some Michelle Branch. You chose all the best nostalgia songs haha. Like with "Breathe", your vocal style adds a unique feeling to the song. I dig it!
    16. @JakeRabin - I'm psyched somebody took on The Cranberries! The musicianship on this cover is fantastic, and the chorus vocals are sick! Great take on a classic.
    17. @therookielot - Really cool effect on the vocals! It fits the song really well. I like the trippy, psychedelic vibe. The last second of the song: A+
    18. @thewmaynes - I had to check out the originals on most of the songs on this comp, and for this one I much prefer your slower version to the original. The acoustic guitar and piano makes the song so much more enjoyable for me. Really great job!
    19. @xkhiemster - This medley is so creative! As per usual, your musicianship is on point. A 7 minute song is no easy feat, and I am thoroughly impressed.
    20. @bradsonemanband - Everyone knows this is one of the greatest songs of all time, and you killed it. I didn't know I needed a Ukulele version, but now I know better! I think this was the most perfect ender we could've gotten. Also, happy belated birthday.

Also, @bradsonemanband and @trevorshmevor - Thanks for the kind words about my song! I'm glad that people who enjoy the original also enjoy my take on it. Shout out to my brother @DashboardProfessional for playing the cajon for me when I know the sound I'm looking for, but am incapable of doing it myself haha.

Great comp friends! Every track is solid, and I think this is one of the best we've done yet!

Thank you! "Hide and Seek" is one of the highlights on this for me and I loved your version of "Smoke" from the Best of 2016 comp.

My version was based on an acoustic version she did before "Kiss" so I can't really take credit for the arrangement.

    1. @alexmelton What the? This is a cover? I mean, I don't know the original song, but this sounds like a professionally recorded immaculately produced and performed full band song. Did you do everything yourself? This is incredible, dude. Absolutely one of my favourites out of all the comps holy mackerel

    2. @redwing91007 I like that vocal effect a lot, and the panning on the vocals in the bridge. Each guitar in one ear is a really well executed touch too. Super cool

    3. @Damien Davies Robert Smith? Man, your guitar playing is awesome. I didn't know what song it was at first and thought it sounded super pretty, and then when I realized what song it was, I was smiling at how well it fit. Did you come up with this arrangement yourself? I like that subtle lead part too

    4. @vidiviciveni Snaps! This is a great cover. I can see you playing this at, like, an open mic and winning everyone over. You've got a great voice man

    5. @Jose Those pitch harmonics sounded so perfectly distant in my headphones that I thought my pretty sheltered roommate was listening to Julien Baker for a second and I was proud of him. The guitar in the final thirty seconds sounded perfect too. Julien's careful guitar playing might be my favourite thing about her music and you nailed it

    6. @manoverboard365 Wow. I love your voice. Reminds me of a young Kenny Vasoli in the verses. I don't have anything to compare what you do in the chorus to, but I know it sounds beautiful

    7. @ricklightning This sounds unsettlingly awesome. Something about having just the guitar and your almost gritted vocals makes it feel sort of claustrophobic, and I like it a lot

    8. @thesoftskeleton I see this sons suggested to me a lot on YouTube, and I often think I should check it out, but I guess I don't really need to now, since I've got this. Another one that I wouldn't have guessed was a cover had I not known. So good

    9. @Jdaniels Hell yeah, Faith Hill. Super mellow, pleasant cover. Sometimes that's all ya need. Nice work man

    10. @vidiviciveni After hearing your Britney cover, I was stoked to see that you were doing this one. You nail those high notes man. And that opening guitar was super accurate too - I always lazily fake it. That outro is very cool too

    11. @Things So Impossible I always look forward to your covers man. You never let me down. Is that a cajon? Love it. Fits the song super well, and I never would have thought to use it

    12. @JakeRabin @elemenohpe I'm listening to this compilation in bed, and I can normally count on the entire experience being pretty easy listening, but you always go hard and I love it. I don't know who did what here, but it doesn't make much of a difference because everything sounds equally great

    14. @vidiviciveni Man, all three of your covers could be on their own EP, with this as the perfect closer. So good

    15. @Jdaniels This cover reminded me I ought to check out what Michelle Branch has been up to lately. Really nice man

    16. @JakeRabin Thought this was just going to be an acoustic cover from the first few seconds. Damn dude, I kind of assumed elemenohpe was responsible for the urgency of your guys track because I'm familiar with his style, but you can pull it off just as well

    17. @therookielot The effect on the guitars is super cool here. I also like your comment at the end. I love stuff like that

    18. @thewmaynes love the guitar here. Great placing in the track listing too. I feel real comfortable listening to this track and I need that right now

    19. @xkhiemster I can't tell where one song ends and the next one begins, so you nailed the medley composition. Are the original songs similar or did you have to do a lot of tweaking?

    20. @bradsonemanband Your best yet! Nice to see you on here, of course. I would probably have to sacrifice my guitar to the gods if you weren't to show up in some way

Thank you man! I put so much time into making it sound spacey and atmospheric. Sorta wish i had sat the vocals a little more in the mix but I'm glad I could do Julien proud.

@Things So Impossible Reading your feedback post now and seeing that it was in fact a cajon! Great addition from your brother. And thanks for the kind words, man. The key change in that final chord progression really did all the triumphant work for me, but don't tell anyone

  22. Thanks for the kind words, guys! Makes me feel like I didn't actually drop the ball on this one!

I mostly just found a part of one song that had the same chord as the beginning of the next. The first song ends with a riff that goes B - D - B- D - A - D and the second song starts with a riff that goes A - D - G - F#, so I just smushed them together.

Well, technically, the fourth song is originally just piano, so I guess that's tweaking? She plays it live on guitar, but she hardly plays guitar at all on that one (she mostly uses it to yell into the pickups).

  23. @Jose heyyy after listening to your cover I checked out Julien Baker's album and fell in love with it
