Huh, I knew there were a few moments that have lines changed up between CD and streaming but one that just caught me off guard

Spotify DUCKWORTH has "Life is one funny mo'fucka" while CD version is "God is one funny mo'fucka". Feel like Life doesn't make as much sense with what comes after, weird they did that.

I love how immediate this record is. TPaB is absolutely brilliant, but it also feels a little bit like sitting in a class. Don't get me wrong, it's the coolest class ever, but I had to focus a lot and then do a bunch of homework. I just flat-out enjoy this one. It's so nice to hear a Kendrick album that's accessible but no less brilliant. I definitely don't see this having the same universal impact TPaB had--because the social commentary on that album is unmatched--but I think this will end up being my personal favorite.

This album is amazing. And it's truly what I wanted from Kendrick's next work, and more (the melodic nature of LOVE and GOD and they way he killed those is amazing to have on this album). He went "radio-friendly" in sound while still being incredibly unique. Unreal work on Kenny's part.

Personally though, I can't call it my favorite. And that's not because of any shortcomings on DAMN. I'll just always come back to GKMC. It's too special imo. Kenny is my favorite artist and GKMC will forever be my favorite album bar none. The musical headspace he was in during that album (sherane, bitch don't kill my vibe, art of peer pressure, money trees, sing about me/dying of thirst, real, and really every other track including the bonuses [Recipe, Black Boy Fly,Now or Never]) and it's story is just too incredible.
I feel like it's nothing I've ever heard or will hear again (although Isaiah Rashad's The Sun's Tirade had a similar vibe that was a sick debut). And it has a lot of personal significance as it really opened me up to diving even further into music and becoming more conscious of listening to albums as a whole work from front to back, looking for the themes and album-long stories (especially in rap) and seeing musicians as artists.

I honestly grow to love this album more with more and more listens and the funny thing is Kendrick avatar aside I'm super terrible with honing in on releases. I feel like sometimes I oversaturate myself with music, for better or worse.

That said this album has been one that has forced itself into being appreciated and consistent listening for me. There's a lot of things that resonate with me, most notably LOVE. considering RL moves of my own atm, as well as just really loving GOD. ELEMENT. XXX. DNA. etc.
Maybe this is me learning I'm a bit of a stan lol.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I've always really respected Kendrick's music but haven't ever really had it click with me before as much as I'd really wanted it to aside from Swimming Pools which hit pretty hard. As much as I appreciate this album it's biggest achievement for me is that it's gotten me to really explore and get into his back catalogue and I'm so grateful for it. Hopefully this album clicks for me as a whole body of work and not just on a track by track basis soon.

  9. I live for the multiple roastings of Geraldo Rivera and Fox 'News' on this thing. Fucking fantastic record. Last few songs are a hell of a trip.

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion in here. I really really like this record. I like every Kendrick record, my favorite still being GKMC. But I usually find myself just respecting and observing Kendricks talent than absolutely falling in love with his records. While Kanye isn't the MC that Kendrick is I fall in LOVE with kanye records. No Kendrick album has had nearly the impact on me as any Ye record. Again, I appreciate and am in awe of his talent. There is just some emotional disconnect that keeps him from reaching that next level for me personally. I think it's the colorful and unique sonics of each kanye record that resonates with me, kind of like a Kubrick.

Just one of those weird things for me that I find interesting.

I feel like this record kind of throws back to Section 80 a little bit. Which I am all for. Love everything this man has done and this is no exception. Great album.

My dad works for TDE and he says album 2 is an RnB album like what Future did with Future/Hndrxx.
