Going through their discog today. Balloon Ride is still one of my favorite songs.

Speaking of FANSD, I didn't realize for years that the cover was actually a painting and not a picture.

Did they go back to writing all of their own songs on this one? I know the last album was mainly co-writes.

I don't know forsure but I feel like I read in an interview with Hoopes that they did go back to writing it all themselves.

"Bummin'" is great. I cannot shake that hook. It's so much fun to play in the gorgeous weather.

This is one band I have been meaning to listen to for the longest time and haven't gotten around to it. Any suggestions on where to start?

Two Lefts straight through to Forget and Not Slow Down, including all the in-between EPs.

I don't find myself coming back to any of their other stuff at all anymore. Self-titled and Anatomy is silly and super Christian pop-punk. Collapsible Lung is pop garbage except for the title track.

I'm really digging these guys so far. They have a very good ear for melody and catchy pop hooks, and a lot of depth underneath that.

I'd say don't bother with Two Lefts but a lot of people like it. Either way start with Forget and Not Slow Down.

I believe Forget and Not Slow Down isn't the best place to start, since it's different from everything else they've done. At least give Mmhmm or Two Lefts a listen and then if it's not working go to Forget.

    Build up to FANSD

FANSD is easily the best and is very accessible. Just start there.

    I like that new song.

FANSD is easily their best, and it's one of those albums I consider nearly perfect. But I also think you should hear what has led up to that and Two Lefts is decent enough to start with, since it has a mix of their sillier songs with some really good ones (Overthinking and Jefferson Aero Plane).

Haha, yeah the cover is really good and was painted by his uncle.

Also, I think it's well known, but the pre-gap track before the title track is his dad singing a line from Sahara.

I don't think you need to build up to FANSD. Honestly if I started with Two Lefts I probably wouldn't have gone further for a long time. I'd always recommend the album that I think will leave the best impression and I think it's FANSD easily.

    Fight the long defeat.

The band's best material comes with mmhmm, Five Score, The Nashville Tennis EP, and Forget and Not Slow Down. I would recommend listening to those four releases in that order.

Being my favorite album of theirs, F&NSD is a great starting point, but I think it's better to appreciate the musical progression away from their pop-punk roots that begins with mmhmm before working up to their current direction. If desired, Two Lefts is a solid album that's more in line with their early pop-punk sound.

I hate to say this because I like both tracks and I'm definitely excited for the album but am I the only one who isn't overly impressed with Look On Up or Bunmin'? I like Bummin' more with each listen but it didn't blow me away like I hoped it would.
