Just tell me, is the beginning of this video a riff on the album?

    Yes it is.

The Sound of Two Voices and The Cheapest Thrill are really the songs here that remind me of being first introduced to NFG and getting hooked on S&S.

    Things have changed.

    That's "Barbed Wire"

  5. I mean, totally fair. And I eat up early '00s pop punk. I still listen to most of it. Just never got why people liked that record. I know that makes me somewhat of a heretic ;)

The solo/riff in the last 25 seconds of this video is not on the album.

Say It Dont Spray It is such a good track, its interesting its a lot of peoples least favorite

  8. I'd argue it's one of the best pop punk albums of all time. Haha.

  9. Is this in reference to my opinion of S&S?

Definitely NFG's best album by a long shot imo. I'm sure most of you wouldn't agree with this but I don't think they ever succeeded across an entire album anywhere near the level of S&S

  11. Yeah. I think it's in my top 4 best pop punk albums ever. It changed/helped invent the genre for the next decade basically. Just an outright classic imo.

That, Sound of Two Voices, and Call Me Anti-Social are my favorites. Might change. But yeah, I really like say it don't spray it.

Also, S&S is pretty iconic for pop punk. It's up there with Dude Ranch for me.

  14. I definitely don't deny the influence, but there is a huge chunk of this album (basically after the first couple tracks) that I've just never been that interested in. I always give it another chance every couple months but it never really clicks. What I've noticed though is that a lot of similar albums (Say it Like You Mean it, Chroma, Take This to Your Grave, All Killer No Filler, etc.) clicked with me in middle school/high school and I still like those ones, but albums that I either didn't listen to or didn't like back then (Through Being Cool, S&S, Simple Plan's stuff, Good Charlotte's stuff) are much harder to get into now. I feel like if you miss connecting with these records at a certain time period you might not care about them much when you're older, even if you can realize why people like them.

Pop punk to me is S&S, Enema, and All Killer No Filler. Those aren't necessarily my favorites from the bands now, but when I think what is pop punk, those are the three records that define the genre to me. Clearly derived from punk, but with a strong nod to catchy pop music.

Interesting to see everyone loving "Sound of Two Voices". That's easily my least favorite track on this haha.

In other news, I went for a bike ride around the lake today and listened to this twice and it was quite enjoyable.

S&S is absolutely a classic of the genre.

You definitely have a point. That's basically why I can't get into early FOB or TSL, among others. I totally missed that 2000-2004 period and only really started paying attention to music around 2007.

I don't love s and s but I get the appeal. This record is decent. Hate the closer so far.

Swap the closer with Short and Sweet and you might like it more.

I don't want to swap. I think that song sucks and shouldn't have made the record lol

The calypso vibe of sound of two voices is unreal. I need a cocktail in my hand when listening to it
