It's one of the weakest tracks on the album I think, lust too. I get why theyre there and the lyrics are great but they don't sound good. Do like the hook for love tho, just not a good hook for Kendrick I feel like

Unpopular opinion: hip hop is a form of music

Nope there were tons of them at Best Buy. Just surprised an album so recently announced was able to get in stores on release day.

Still not a fan of rap and hip hop that much, but I did enjoy a good amount of this album. I also have a lot of respect for Kendrick and his writing.

Anyone reverse the intro vocals of LOYALTY. Yet? Definitely reversed words again like in many of the other songs

The brewery I was at tonight was playing this album front to back quite loudly, it was a good feeling, esp right near where he grew up, just fit really well

The whole thing is good but it ends really strong. Three listens in and there's already like 6 or 7 songs that are standouts over Humble which is crazy good in itself

  11. Honestly the only songs I'm not totally aold on are "Element." and "Lust," but I don't dislike either enough to be a problem

Have now heard this twice. Have to admit, on first listen I was slightly underwhelmed (probably because this is a more straightforward album and not as immediately grandiose as TPAB and GKMC), but it pretty instantly grew on me a ton. DNA is just fucking insane, maybe one of my favorite beat changes ever. Fear is also amazing, and so are a ton more that I won't bother listing because I'd just end up listing the whole thing except maybe Lust, which like a lot of other people I'm not crazy about. I actually like Kendrick's singing on here too, he's in no way a traditionally good singer but something about his voice lends itself really well to these songs, particularly Yah and Love.

I'm gonna have to give this a lot more listens but this is a dope album that at the moment I'm not sure will ever stack up with GKMC or TPAB, but definitely has a chance to grow on me even more. Kendrick has easily made his case as one of the GOATs and even a more mainstream, straightforward album like this is leagues ahead of what a lot of other rappers are capable of.

I'm still not buying this second album thing btw

Would make a nice tied up bow on everything to release a second album on his Coachella headline day as well as all other aspects/theories, no?

Apologies if that's been thought of, can't keep up.

I listened through this for the second time this morning and it is really something special. I don't think there's a single thing I dislike here, but it's still too early for me to name favorites (although DNA and Humble are definitely up there). This is going to get a lot of play this year.

  18. This thing just feels so lean and focused. Even the couple of tracks that aren't my favorites are important enough to the overarching theme that I couldn't care less about them slowing things down for me. The entire album is an experience and once I start it, nothing takes me out of it. I feel like that's a pretty rare thing for me

I'll have to check this album out. Kendrick never really clicked for me as much as other have, but i'm always willing to give him another shot.

    The spiciest meme

So I was talking with a friend and came to a sort of conclusion for myself.

This album I think will be a bit more divisive among fans because it doesn't have the typical theming that he's been doing for a while now. It definitely has a story, a strong one, but it doesn't hold your hand through it like GKMC and TPAB did with little skits and such. Also the theme is way more about himself rather than GKMC's life and growing up in Compton and TPAB's state of black America, which might not hit people in the same way. I can picture down the line this being one of his "not typically thought about as much but highly regarded nonetheless" albums that some bands have. I don't want to say overlooked or underrated, there's gonna be a bit of a difference.

Sorry this is just me rambling now.

This album is great, but I do miss Thundercat's beats and production. Made me revisit TPAB and I forgot how much I love Wesley's Theory.

This is my favorite Kendrick release already and I've been following his work since Section 80 came out. Just a lot more enjoyable to listen to, especially compared to TPAB, although admittedly I need to revisit that.
