Shhhhhh, we don't speak of that album :-)

The splitting hairs on what's a Linkin Park song vs Fort Minor vs solo Chester just seems weird to me. If the band decides to release a song as Linkin Park, then it's a Linkin Park song, no matter what we think of the full band's involvement, lol.

Exactly. I'm fine with them pushing what you'd expect from Linkin Park in terms of different styles as long as it results in good music.

I'm fine with it, but this band seems to have gone away from the music I grew up listening to.

Yeah I feel that, they're definitely changing a LOT.

I wonder if Dead By Sunrise will ever release another album? I haven't listened to that in a long time, but I remember I liked that album.

If Chester is moving away from screaming, probably not :tear:

Iridescent just came on shuffle and man, I always forget how fantastic this song is. Love that build up :-)

ATS will always be an underrated gem imo

  11. ATS is top 3 for me. It's the album that's grown on me the most since its release.

I was just reminded of this interview, and I find it even more hilarious now.

Yeah it does seem like a pretty dramatic shift in mentality from that album cycle to this one, but honestly I'm not that surprised that they're moving in this direction.

Also, "Good Goodbye" leaked... I actually like it a lot. Definitely my favorite of the three tracks so far.

I would love if they still had this mindset, but after 3 years people change and I kind of like how they don't really do the same album over and over. Wouldn't be surprised if after this they had the itch to go do a more heavier album.

Good Goodbye is easily the best of the three so far, but that's not saying much.

It probably would have worked better as a lead-off single than Heavy, it sounds kind of like a missing link between ATS and Heavy.

I haven't listened to it yet, but based on descriptions, it probably would've been a bad lead single, lol. If you're gonna do the whole radio sound thing, you gotta come out of the gate with that. Then the second or third song released can showcase a different sound.

Good Goodbye is quite obviously the best one yet, Pusha kills it on his verse

To be fair, he tends to be a bit over-the-top with jokes and dramatic comments in interviews... from everything I've watched of him in interviews the "stab yourself in the face" line was almost certainly meant to be a joke. That said, I do think the band are going a bit too far trying to distance themselves from their original success recently.

Nothing wrong with what he's saying. Hybrid Theory was 17 years ago. Obviously they aren't going to sound like that anymore. People do need to get over it.

  22. there's nicer ways of saying it. like, "that album came out 17 years ago, we were kids, and our music taste has changed since then."

They've gone more in-depth on it plenty of times, and have said essentially variations of that... I think they just get tired of getting asked about an album they released 17 years ago in every interview.

He's just frustrated. And rightfully so. If you'd been releasing music for as long as LP has and people kept complaining that they missed the old sound and/or saying you sold out, you'd be frustrated too.
